MAXIM'S POV
I shut the voice of my wolf off and took a huge step away from her. I needed to gain my sanity before it got lost and it was all because of her. For the first time in the many years I have lived, this was what someone was doing to me, and I hated it. Why couldn't she be my real mate, someone that I could freely be this territorial about. A human being doing this to me irked me even more. It made me feel weak and appeared weak to myself and the pack, which was a sign of me being a bad leader.
I cleared my throat and faced away from her. Making eye contact with her was something that would make me do something stupid.
"You will stay in my bedroom before and even after our rituals," I said and started to walk forward. "That way, the elders and the others think we have something going on." That was a lie.
"On the same bed?"
