Chapter 51 - Chapter 5 Part 7.1

Part 7

Elected Hurricane Stage 4. ETA 3 hours. 35 minutes.

The distraction was all broken up into multiple parts:

1. Get those boys to join them. Somehow convince them to break the ice, once that happened they'd be staying together.

2. Create the comfort by bringing others in.

The result?

Completely distract the girls for the whole night. Break their curiosity about anything happening with their parents.

It suddenly dawned on her how much she was expected to do. But at the same time, the plan was working. The bigger, older teens were listening... to her.

She couldn't even ask for time to reconsider.

"Kate girl what are you doing?" Whispered Button as she walked, then she reached for Kate but retreated, like she'd been burned.

So she remembered Kate's name all of a sudden? Kate wouldn't stop, if she could help it. Ironically she had what it took to move. She'd run on anger. That made things more real.

The group of younger boys were still headed to the glass doors when she tapped the youngest one's shoulder.

"Eyo, where yous 'eaded?" Kate said, putting on a bit of an accent, stolen from a cousin.

He turned, along with the others. Romance novels with werewolves made so much sense. Because, in a flash, she was a lamb chop surrounded by big scary men.

Mother could cut through them. Kate could too.

"We play golf." Said the one she'd pulled.

"That what you guys are? Golfers?"

They looked at each other.

"No," said the one furthest.

"But you're definitely something. I just know it, haven't see you around these parts."

The youngest one eyed her and smiled.

"Some of us aren't, we travel a lot but"

"We're Olympians."

"Ha!" she said with a laugh.

"Basketball. Soccer. You I'm not sure about, I want to say tennis... it explains why he's here." She said pointing up to the upper floors.

That made that young one smile, it was a lot of a smile. It reminded her of a cartoon's evil smile.

"Yes, Tennis." He said.

"And the others?"

"You got it in one." He said.

"It's just those guys I don't get."

"Soccer. But not Olympics. They are," he seemed to look for a word.

"A part of a program, I'm guessing a welcome program."

The others smiled.

"You didn't know that before? You guess?" Said one of the very tell ones, the French in his accent an event in itself.

She could listen to that all day

"I really like stuff. Mom loves athletes. Anyway, can we sit with you? Not many girls here for some reason."

"Ve noticed." Said one Frenchmen with such an eagerness that he may have set back the French for the next hundred years.

"I can bring some more up." Kate said.

They stared at her.

"Either that or you come down,"

"Our uncle says a visit doesn't count if you wake up alone." Griff said in the most innocent voice she had ever heard from him.

It was enough to make them burst out laughing.

"Anyway, your names? I feel like you haven't given those yet. Don't make me look up ESPN 6 or something. "

"ESPN 8!" Two of them said in unison.

That brought laughs. Good laughs.
