Aurora James - POV
"Mrs. James," I called out to her. It felt really awkward calling her using the title that my mother used all these years, but I didn't know her name, and I didn't know how else could I address her. She didn't look up when I saw the tears roll down her cheeks.
I looked at Zander when he gestured for me to go to her so that was what I did. I got up from my place and took a seat right next to her while I gently rubbed her back. "What happened to my father?" I asked her again in a more gentle tone.
"He was on patrol duties that night, and he has been distracted for the past weeks, and that cost him his life, Aurora," she told me when she finally looked up at me. "Those rogues were so cruel, they didn't just kill him and leave. They burnt his body to the point where we could not identify him," she said when I felt like my heart stopped for a couple of minutes.
My father is dead.
