She cleared her throat and put on her sweetest voice. "Eyrx… since you won't let me pick the fruits myself, maybe… you could get them for me?"
Eyrx, who had been tending to the firewood, slowly lifted his gaze. "Hm."
Encouraged by his lack of immediate rejection, Thalina clasped her hands together and continued, "They're really easy to find! They're bright blue, kinda round, but with little golden specks on them. Oh! And when you squeeze them, a bit of pink juice comes out. They smell really nice too, super sweet, like honey and—"
"Enough."
Thalina clamped her mouth shut.
Eyrx lifted his upper body in one smooth, fluid motion, his massive snake tail coiling beneath him as his towering presence cast a shadow over her.
His silver eyes lingered on her for a brief moment—too long, too unreadable—before he turned away, his long tail gliding across the cave floor as he moved toward the entrance.
Then, without warning, his form completly shifted.
