Chapter 95 - 95. Mimosa's Perspective(2)

Currently, Mimosa could heal organs by forcing the cells to perform mitosis.

However, not all cells can perform mitosis - one example being nerve cells.

So, if that is true, then one question arises: How can Mimosa heal Akeru's nerves when they got fried due to his recklessness?

Well, the answer is simple. She performs mitosis in support cells, in this case, Schwann cells, to heal that part.

Though this approach doesn't always work as it depends on the extent of injury, in Akeru's case, it definitely works.

However, that approach definitely won't work when complex parts of the body, like the brain, are involved.

More so when delicate parts like the Medulla Oblongata are involved.

So, it wasn't possible for Mimosa to heal him with her current skills.

'Vital Cascade'

She directly used the new spell

A very large amount of mana could be seen flowing through Mimosa's palms as she focused on Akeru's head.

'I just need to heal the damage to the brain; the rest could be done by him only,' Mimosa thought as she focused on the stem cells in Akeru's body, especially the ones in his brain.

She converted those stem cells directly or indirectly to the types that were destroyed and couldn't be gained through mitosis.

Such is the property of Stem Cells.

She also noted that her ability to have control over mitosis of a cell had increased greatly along with influencing a cell.

Everything that happened from the start, that is, when Mimosa kneeled down on the ground, was quite fast.

Mimosa was barely able to prevent Akeru's brain from getting damaged permanently.

After restoring his brain and maintaining his entire body in Status Quo, she finally decided to wake him up.

Akeru's eyes regained color as he blinked a few times.

'Ohhh, my gamble paid off!' Akeru barely managed to keep his poker face.

"I presume that you could take care of your body from this point?" Mimosa asked.

"Uhh, yes ma'am," Akeru gulped while looking at Mimosa's face, which was dangerously close to his.

Akeru's heart started beating again in a few seconds, and the part of his arm where it was detached got covered in water as it started reattaching to him.

'I feel something hot on my chest,' Akeru thought as he looked at his chest and realized that most of his grimoire was burned off-- indicating his close escapade with death.

He immediately regenerated his grimoire while getting up and got into a sitting position.

He then got up from the ground and stood.

"My apologies. It seems I have delayed you guys. Let's not waste any time and start moving," Akeru nonchalantly said as he started walking while one of his arms was still in the process of getting attached.

Everyone was speechless at his nonchalance over the situation.

Suddenly, somebody grabbed his non-injured shoulder.

"You have some explanation to do, Akeru-kun~"

Akeru shivered at that statement.

He turned around; however, in the next instant, his expression turned peculiar, confusing the others.

'Why is the array I placed not activated?'

"Umm, this might seem a bit of a dumb question, but did you heal me, Mimosa?"

He didn't need to ask this question as the answer was obvious to him.

'I didn't predict this result,' Akeru cursed himself.

Time- A few minutes ago

"It's been so long since we last met, and the first thing you asked me is this, not how I was? I am hurt," Akeru said with a sad expression while clutching his heart.

He resisted the urge to glance at Luck.

'As expected of his sensory abilities, if we just talk about mana sensing, there's a chance that Luck might be more skilled than me in this area.' Akeru was impressed by Luck's ability to sense the mana he applied discretely.

He had put very little mana over his fingertips while clutching his heart for one reason, that is, to store very little mana in the outermost part of his skin on his chest.

It would have been very inefficient to do it while moving some of his internal mana to that area, especially when he was being watched and didn't have time to waste, along with his brain power.

'I completed the setup of the array way before I showed myself to these guys; as of now, even I can't sense it present in the area.' Akeru internally smirked as he started walking behind the group.

He had felt that somebody was watching him since morning despite traveling at a very fast speed.

With his '3D Witness' spell, he didn't have many people guessing who was following him as he immediately recognized the guy who was doing it.

So, he purposely decided to give off the impression of being sleep-deprived and gave off many openings during the travel.

Though he indeed was sleep-deprived, it was not enough to affect his combat abilities.

He had speculated that the guy wouldn't come after him when Akeru was in danger as, at that time, his focus would be at the peak.

So, what would be the best time to strike somebody when they are not aware?

Yes, that's when they least expect it.

Akeru gleefully sensed a spatial rift opening below him and sucking him very quickly.

'Hehe, as expected, even if I didn't have '3D Witness' or didn't learn any spatial spells, I still wouldn't have been caught off-guard just due to the existence of a mana zone. I guess they probably underestimated me due to my age. Though, I am pretty sure that Patoli would have come here himself if I had resisted.'

Akeru found himself in an unknown place just as he felt something hit him in the chest.

'Perfect place to activate it; he will now think that my heart is damaged.' Akeru quickly used the minuscule mana he had stored in the chest to make his heart stop beating.

He also consciously started regulating his blood throughout his body to sell the act.

In the next instant, Akeru resisted the urge to tilt his head just before he felt something hit him at the back of his neck.

'Light speed attacks are not as invincible as I thought they are; Ki sensing could help to dodge them. It's a shame that I couldn't refine it today.'

The last thing Akeru did before losing consciousness was twist his body slightly such that from the barrage of attacks coming from the front, only one of his arms was cut off.

A few seconds later, a figure appeared beside him.

One more figure appeared out of a spatial rift, who immediately started searching Akeru's body.

"This kid is really something. I didn't expect him to actually react to your attack while having such level of mana reinforcement," a scary-looking man said with shock in his tone.

"Indeed, he is a dangerous opponent if he grows; then again, he doesn't really have much time to grow even if he was alive. Our plan has come near fruition."

"Yes, I found the mana stone. Should we take the treasures he obtained from the dungeon?"

"Leave it, it would be just worthless. Moreover, there's a risk that we might get tracked. Is he dead?"

"His organs had mostly started to die, and his brain is dysfunctional. Do you want me to kill him directly?"

"No need. Even if he somehow miraculously lives, it won't matter. Just leave him from where you got him; we don't want to take any chance to get found out this early."

The scary-looking guy complied, and he dropped Akeru to where he got him from.

"What type of question is that?" Mimosa asked him with an unimpressed gaze.

"Did you get hit in your head or something?" Noelle asked.

"Ahem, I had actually put an array here, which would either heal my brain or would wake my consciousness so I could heal myself," Akeru clarified while stomping on the ground.

Everyone found themselves standing on a big array, much to their shock as they didn't sense it.

'It would have acted as a protective array to buy time if worst scenario came to shove. Fortunately, it didn't happen, and I was able to get rid of that stone. I would take it back after all the ordeal with elves is done.'

Mimosa's glare intensified as she looked at Akeru with an unimpressed look.

Did she feel so many emotions in so short a time for nothing?

Akeru found her hand shift from his shoulder to his chest.

"So... Why are the stem cells in your heart quite less than one normally possesses?"

Akeru flinched as he felt something in his chest.

***

A/N- Uhh, I am tired after fleshing out Mimosa's magic. It took so long to just get the logic in, like I was trying to understand how things like Mitosis and stem cells work and their limitations. I hope I would be able to explain to you guys in a simple manner.
