It had been 7 years, 7 years since we were believed to be dead after what happened on Tenrô Island.
Flashback
After their fight against Grimoire Heart, Fairy Tail was attacked by Acnologia, the Dragon of the Apocalypse. He destroyed the entire island, causing the disappearance of the first generation of mages. 7 years later, they were found thanks to a spell by Mavis, which allowed them to survive for 7 years.

The guild had changed a lot since their disappearance, but now that they were back, it was time to get back to work.
Sonic and Chip were looking at the mission board when suddenly Sonic saw a mission with a name he recognized.
Chip: Sonic, is something wrong?
Sonic: It's strange, I didn't think this kind of mission would come up. (He walked toward Mirajane with the mission sheet in hand.) Hey Mira, do you know who sent this mission?
Mirajane: Hmm, no, but I think it came from a place called Chao Garden.
Sonic: That's what I thought, the one who sent this mission is named Omochao. It's a mission requested by a Chao.
Mirajane: A Chao?
Sonic: They're magical creatures, like the animals in your world.
I walked over to the table where Natsu's group was discussing.
Natsu: So, did you find a mission?
Sonic: Yes! Do you want to go sightseeing on Mobius?
Lucy: Sightseeing?
Wendy: On Mobius?
Erza (looking at the mission sheet): It's true we've never visited your planet, it would be a good way to relax and train a bit.
Grey: So Mobians can ask us for missions too?
Carla: What's the mission by the way?
Chip: He just asked us to go meet him at Chao Garden.
Wendy: Chao Garden? Are we going to find Chaos there?
Sonic: Yes, it's an island in the sky, but we can teleport with a ring. Now, you should get ready, we leave in an hour.
[1 Hour Later]
Sonic used a ring and opened a portal to the other world. They arrived on a small island with lush vegetation and a mini waterfall. They saw many Chaos playing or walking around. There were several types: blue with yellow tips on their limbs, black with a bit of purple, white with blue tips on their limbs... They all had floating orbs above their heads.
Natsu: Hey, look at this!
He picked up a regular Chao (blue with yellow limbs) and showed it to us. The Chao didn't react, it was happy.
Wendy and Lucy: Aww, they're so cute!!!
They started petting their heads. They didn't say anything other than "Chao" when they wanted to talk.
Happy: Look, Carla, they're coming towards us.
Carla: What's happening to them?
They all started cuddling Wendy and Carla.
Sonic: Uh-oh...
Erza: What do you mean, "uh-oh"?
Sonic: I probably forgot to mention something. When they cuddle with other animals...
The Chaos cuddling Happy and Carla turned into Chaos-Cats. They had cat paws, cat ears, and even whiskers.
Grey: What is this madness?!
Sonic: They turned into Chaos-Cats. They use the forms of animals they touch. Don't worry, it's nothing serious.
Lucy: Happy, why did you do that?
Happy: What? They jumped on us!
???: It's been a long time since they fused with other animals.
They all looked up at the top of the waterfall and saw a metallic Chao with a propeller on its head coming toward them.
???: Nice to meet you, I'm Omochao. I'm the one who sent you this mission. (Check Omochao's picture)
Sonic: It's been a while.
Omochao: Oh Sonic! It's so good to see you again. I see you found a guild.
Wendy: You know each other?
Sonic: He's the one who taught me how to teleport from Mobius to Earth when I was little. He gives good advice.
Omochao: Indeed, Sonic and I met many years ago before he went to live on Earth.
Erza: By the way, why did you call us?
Omochao: I called you because we need your help. Several Chaos have gone missing recently, and I think it has something to do with the planets that appeared in space.
Lucy: New planets?
Sonic: Yes, it's very common here.
Grey: But what makes you think it's related to these disappearances?
Omochao: Chaos have the innate ability to send signals to each other when they're in danger, and by locating them, all our points converge toward these mysterious planets. I also detect several signs of unknown life. We're not sure if they are Earthlings or Mobians.
Sonic: So, what do you think, friends? Ready to go save lives in danger?
Natsu (clapping his fists together): I'm always up for it. Let's go, Happy!
Happy: Yes, Captain!!!
Natsu started running and jumped off the island. Happy stopped before jumping, wondering where they were going. Natsu fell into the void, and that's when Sonic threw a ring from afar that opened a portal underneath him, making him land back on the island with his head in the ground.
Sonic: At least ask where to go instead of rushing headfirst.
Lucy: But wait, how are we going to get down then?
Omochao: You don't have to worry about that. This island is always moving, so by tomorrow we'll be above the place where you're going. From there, you'll take an elevator that will lead you to these planets.
Grey: Can't we just land with the island directly on one of the planets?
Omochao: Unfortunately, no. You see, we are indeed very high in the sky, but we haven't left the stratosphere.
Erza: So, I guess we'll camp here while we wait.
Wendy: Good idea.
The group spent the night on Chao Garden. They set up their tents and lit a fire for the night. At sunrise, Sonic woke up Wendy.
Wendy (still tired): What's going on, is it already time to leave?
Sonic: Not yet, but follow me!
Sonic took her hand and led her to the edge of the island to sit.
Wendy: Sonic, are you sure this is safe?
Sonic: Yes, don't worry. And by the way, even if we fall, I'll bring us back with a ring.
Wendy (sitting down): Okay, but what did you want to show me?
Sonic (pointing at the rising sun): Look.
Wendy: WOW... It's beautiful!
Sonic: And this is just the sunrise.
He pointed to the ground, and she followed his gaze, seeing many areas at their feet. The sun lit up every part of the islands.
Sonic: Look at that one, do you remember? This is where we trained before Tenrô.
Wendy: Sandopolis?
Sonic: Exactly.
Wendy: It really hasn't changed since the last time.
Wendy rested her head on Sonic's left shoulder while he showed her the places that marked his childhood on Mobius. Soon after, he noticed she had fallen back asleep. He lifted her up and gently placed her back in her tent, giving her a kiss on the forehead before leaving.
[2 Hours Later]
We were all gathered in front of Omochao; it was time to leave.
Omochao: I think this is where our paths will part. I hope we can meet again.
Chip: Don't worry, after our mission, we'll come back here to give you the report.
Omochao: Thanks again, and have a good trip!
Everyone: Thank you.
We all stood at the edge of the island.
Erza: So, where are the parachutes?
Sonic: Huh? What parachutes?
Lucy (scared): You're not telling me we don't have parachutes?
Sonic (laughing): No, but who needs parachutes on Mobius?
Sonic pushed them all into the void and jumped as well. They all screamed in fear while Sonic shouted with joy. They got closer to the ground. Happy took Natsu and Lucy, Carla took Wendy and Erza, and Chip took Grey. Sonic was the first to land on his feet without difficulty while the others glided down.
Lucy: Are you out of your mind? You could have killed us.
Sonic: You think dying is easy here? Be happy, we just arrived.
Sonic pointed to a tall, white tower that stretched up to the sky and beyond. They had landed on the edge of a beach, far from the tower.
Wendy: What is that?
Sonic: Our means of transportation.
Natsu (looking sick just thinking about it): Transportation?
Sonic: Yes, you'll have to endure a very long trip to space.
Erza: We don't have time to waste, let's go.
