Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 : Cerberian Panther

Perched on top of a two hundred meters tall wall was a figure bent under the dim lighting of the nights moon, his clothing fluttered as currents of wind surged pass his striking pose.

The pose of the Faith Leap.

A leap of assassin's those who trusted their ancestors to guide them in their fall from high distances and to aid them in landing perfectly while keeping their mortal bodies from harm.

Being the second time he was on the barrier that bridged him from his prized freedom, " * sigh *, let's get this over with this " he said clenching the muscles of his body as if trying to withstand a hard blow.

He looked over to the village and saw torches and bonfires lit at various places of the settlement, although the distance between the mansion and the village settlement was far he could still descry a few humanoid figures seemingly guarding it's exit into the forest.

That didn't pique his interest but rather the creepy yet eerily quite forest did, he looked down and found a leafy bush below his designated landing point, to him every thing was falling into place.

Freeing his muscles he left himself to the arms of gravity and plummeted down an incredibly high wall, it initially looked he was going land on his head but after several invasive maneuvers he flipped his body at the dying moment and landed on his feet.

It didn't end there tho because to release the force of his landing he had to roll on the ground which killed the force of the jump instantly.

Thus his journey had begun, his fate had slowly started unraveling it's self.

Bypass him a few kilometers away was a unidentified figure in a hooded cloak dk watched him from the distant with a harp in it's hand's, " Oh Lucian, your destiny calls, a destiny you couldn't even decide " it said in a somewhat familiar voice.

Lucian quickly darted through the jungle via a thin almost extinct pathway, his aim for aimlessly running in a dangerously quite jungle inexistent but he felt a pull telling him to go deeper.

And he did but after some time he forced himself to stop, the thrill of being free had gotten into his head, to get a better view he scaled a large tree and began observing the dense jungle.

Normally in jungles they were a lot of random wild noises he should have even been screaming in pain due to his ultra sensitive hearing but here was quite the contrary it was extremely quiet.

He couldn't even see shaking leaves and grasses as if everything was hiding from something, * BOOM *, his ears picked up a loud sound.

He should have felt relief but dread coursed through his veins, he hadn't seen it he just heard it and was already afraid, just what was going on.

In a remote area the tops of trees were fluttering but not in the wind something was going through them, not only in that area but others around him.

It was as if he had be encircled by the harbingers of damnation, the worst part being he didn't exactly know how much, the more fucked up part being the boom he heard earlier was from one of them behind him.

No knowing what he was up against his mind was filled with fright, he wasn't to high in the tree and felt himself slowly losing grip, cold sweat tickled down his body.

Raising his shirt showcased seven kunais which were strapped to his waist, he took out one of the blade although not without injuring himself in the process.

The greatest fear of man attacked relentlessly tore his mind as the booms got louder and louder, pulling himself together he stood on the thick branch ready to jump at any given opportunity.

Cold wind rushed passed his position as he was brought to see the gigantic creatures the size of a hundred and twenty meter tall trees, hurdling himself up against the tree a feline head passed his tree.

After that two more attached to the first one followed, Lucian momentarily stopped breathing as he slipped of the tree's branch threatening to plummeted to his inevitable death but luckily caught the branch.

Hanging on wasn't a big deal staying out of the creatures sight was, dark in hue it seamlessly blended into the night turning it invisible to all except Lucian.

It had a slim fit body if it was of normal size, long thrashing tail that fell formidable trees with a single swoop, this creature was a Cerberian Panther, a creature read about by Lucian.

Now the race of the creature was known his fear dropped significantly but didn't vanish as he could beat that this with his full strength and even when enhanced with darkness he would still be squashed like a bug.

His mind began formulating a plan to escape, he couldn't still out run this behemoth and would be squashed effortlessly, so he had to wait.

The creatures body soon crossed his tree followed by it's tail which missed the tree merely by chance, but as fate always had it's way his unleashed kunai slipped from his hand.

His heart stopped instantaneously as he vividly remembered the fact that these creatures blessed with three pairs of ears could hear a pin drop from miles away.

Here one was directly in front of him and he stupidly dropped his kunai when he was trying to pull himself to sit on the branch, * Cling *, the kunai spoke as it hit a rock.

Still hanging on the tree he waited for the beast's response and he didn't even have to wait as the panther hated keeping people waiting and turned around with it's feline reflexes.

Lucian acted in the fraction of a second swinging to the opposite tree as the panther's left head bit a huge chunk of the tree's trunk.

The rest of the heads chomped at him as he flew past them but none were able to get a hold of him, the next tree was quite thin so he held it's trunk and spun round it before shooting himself forward.

The stumbled and rolled when he hit the ground but recovered quickly and sprinted through the tall grasses and obstructive logs heading deeper and deeper into the jungle.

His path had already been carved, now it's survive or die.
