"Who is this instructor you've arranged for me, Rolan? I don't want to meet them," Rose complained, trying to stop him in his tracks.
But Rolan kept pushing her wheelchair steadily through the unfamiliar halls. Since Rose couldn't walk, she had no idea where he was taking her. This mansion was huge, and she was basically trapped in it.
Rolan only smiled in response. "It's for your own good. Why are you acting like I'm about to kidnap you?"
"Of course you are!" Rose snapped. "You've already kidnapped me once—why wouldn't I be scared?"
He chuckled, clearly amused by her defiance. She wasn't wrong. He had taken her once. He could easily do it again.
Rolan leaned down and peeked at her face, his voice low and teasing. "Behave." Then he ruffled her hair.
Rose's eyes widened. Did he just treat her like a child? She blinked at him, her expression a mix of confusion and offense.
