As they made their way toward the beach, Rolan pushed Rose in a wheelchair. The outskirts of the beach were lively, with coconut trees swaying in the breeze. The sea and ocean were alive with movement, and flying creatures made noise, signaling the vibrancy of life. Rose folded her arms, feeling helpless. Rolan had brought her here, saying she needed fresh air and some relief—a vacation. But how was she supposed to enjoy this vacation when she was with the person she hated more than anything? Rose wondered to herself.
"Look at nature," Rolan said. "How long has it been since you've seen nature like this? Isn't it beautiful? Can't you appreciate it for once?" he asked, moving to catch a butterfly that had flown by. He opened Rose's palm and placed the butterfly in her hand. "Isn't it beautiful? Back in the city, do you see butterflies like this?"
