The streets of New York hummed with the usual chaotic energy—car horns blaring, conversations buzzing, and the distant wail of a siren somewhere in the distance. Wanda Maximoff and Gwen Stacy moved through the shadows, both clad in their sleek suits. Wanda's symbiote rippled along her body, a living armor that gave her an air of quiet menace, while Gwen's black Spider-Woman suit glinted faintly under the streetlights.
"Do you ever feel like we're magnets for trouble?" Gwen asked, her voice light as they leaped from a rooftop to a nearby fire escape.
"Trouble tends to find me," Wanda replied with a faint smirk. "I've just learned to roll with it."
Fracture snickered in Wanda's mind. **"Trouble? Try chaos. You practically radiate it."**
Ignoring the symbiote's teasing, Wanda's gaze sharpened as a sudden commotion caught her attention. Down below, in a narrow alley, the faint glow of energy lit up the darkness. A tall, icy blue figure moved with alarming speed, hurling jagged shards of ice at a lone red-haired woman who stood defiantly, her hands glowing with faint pink telekinetic energy.
"Do you see that?" Gwen asked, crouching on the edge of the building.
Wanda nodded, her crimson aura flickering faintly. "Let's get closer."
They moved quickly but silently, descending the building and slipping into the shadows of the alley. The scene became clearer as they approached. The red-haired woman—Jean Grey—was locked in combat with a Brotherhood mutant. He was tall and muscular, his skin shimmering with an icy sheen, and his eyes glowed a piercing white.
"You think you can stop me?" the ice-covered mutant sneered, his voice cold and sharp like the shards he wielded. "The Brotherhood of Mutants is unstoppable. Magneto will show the world what it means to fear us."
"Magneto," Wanda murmured under her breath, her crimson eyes narrowing.
Jean, unfazed by his threats, raised a hand and deflected a barrage of ice shards with a telekinetic shield. "You can tell Magneto that the X-Men don't scare easily."
The Brotherhood mutant laughed, his breath visible in the frosty air around him. "The X-Men are relics, clinging to a dream that's already dead. Magneto's vision is the future, and you're too blind to see it."
Wanda exchanged a glance with Gwen. "That's our cue."
The Brotherhood mutant prepared to unleash another wave of icy attacks, but before he could, Wanda stepped forward, her crimson aura flaring. "How about you pick on someone your own size?"
The mutant turned, his glowing eyes narrowing as he sized up Wanda. "And who are you supposed to be?"
"Someone who doesn't have time for your melodrama," Wanda said coldly.
Gwen leaped down beside her, her black suit blending into the shadows. "And someone who really hates bullies."
The mutant's grin widened, jagged icicles forming in his hands. "More playthings for me to break."
Jean's pink energy flickered faintly as she took in the newcomers, her voice steady but surprised. "I don't know who you are, but if you're here to help, I won't complain."
"Jean Grey, right?" Wanda said, her crimson aura coiling around her like a living thing. "I've heard of you."
Jean arched an eyebrow. "You have?"
"Long story," Wanda replied. "Let's deal with him first."
The Brotherhood mutant let out a guttural growl, slamming his fists into the ground. A surge of ice erupted from the pavement, jagged spikes racing toward the trio. Gwen reacted first, flipping gracefully into the air and firing webs to slow the attack. Wanda raised a crimson shield, the spikes shattering harmlessly against it.
Jean, wasting no time, sent a wave of telekinetic energy toward the mutant, knocking him back a few steps. "He's strong, but he's predictable. Watch for—"
Before she could finish, the mutant hurled a massive sheet of ice toward Jean, forcing her to deflect it with another telekinetic burst.
"Gwen, keep him off balance!" Wanda called, her symbiote rippling as she charged forward.
"On it!" Gwen replied, firing a webline at the mutant's leg. She yanked hard, causing him to stumble.
Wanda took advantage of the opening, her symbiote forming sharp tendrils that lashed out at the mutant. He blocked most of the attacks with a wall of ice, but one tendril sliced across his shoulder, drawing blood.
"You're making a mistake," the mutant hissed, his breath fogging the air. "Magneto's going to change the world. You should be on his side."
"Not interested," Wanda said, her tone ice-cold. "Your vision of the world isn't one I want to live in."
As the fight raged on, the Brotherhood mutant grew more desperate, his attacks becoming wild and unfocused. Gwen darted around him, her agility making her a difficult target, while Wanda and Jean coordinated their attacks with surprising synergy.
"Hold him!" Jean shouted, sending a telekinetic wave to knock the mutant off balance.
Wanda's symbiote surged forward, binding the mutant's legs with crimson tendrils. Gwen fired a webline, securing his arms. The mutant struggled against his bindings, his icy powers sputtering as exhaustion set in.
"You're done," Wanda said, her crimson aura flaring. "Now, tell us what Magneto is planning."
The mutant glared at her, his glowing eyes filled with defiance. "Why would I tell you anything?"
Jean stepped forward, her pink energy swirling menacingly around her. "Because you don't have a choice."
The mutant sneered but finally relented. "Magneto's building something—something that will change humans something dangerous. You can't stop him."
Wanda's eyes narrowed. "What kind of something?"
The mutant laughed, his voice cold and hollow. "You'll find out soon enough by that time there won't be any humans left."
With a final surge of strength, he shattered the webbing and tendrils holding him, sending a wave of icy shards in every direction. Wanda quickly stepped in front of Gwen and Jean, using her telekinesis to intercept the shards before they could reach them. As the man tried to flee, Wanda sent the shards hurtling back toward him, impaling him through the chest and pinning his body to the wall of a nearby building.
Jean turned to Wanda and Gwen, her expression a mix of gratitude and unease. "Thank you for the help. I don't think I could've handled him alone... but did you really have to kill him?"
Wanda shrugged, her symbiote suit retracting slightly into her body. "Don't worry about it. The thing about villains is they're like cockroaches—kill one, and five more take their place. No big loss." She glanced at Jean and added, "I'm Wanda Maximoff, by the way. And this is Gwen Stacy."
"Spider-Woman," Gwen added with a small wave.
Jean smiled faintly. "Nice to meet you both. I'm Jean Grey, a member of the X-Men."
"We figured," Wanda said, smirking. "You have a reputation."
Jean's eyebrows lifted. "Do I?"
"Let's just say I have heard good things," Wanda replied, her tone light but teasing.
Gwen glanced between them, her lenses reflecting the faint glow of Wanda's aura. "So, uh, what now?"
"We work together," Wanda said, her eyes locking onto Jean's. "Magneto's planning something involving mutant's the very people I want to protect, so we're going to need all the help we can get to stop him."
Jean nodded slowly, her gaze steady. "Then you've got my help. Let me take you to see the professor. I'm sure he would be very interested in meeting you both."
Wanda smiled, her crimson eyes glinting as a thought crossed her mind. Another redhead. What is it with me and redheads, blonds and women with black hair, maybe? She shook the thought away, focusing instead on the task at hand not her growing harem obsession.
As Jean led them to the professor. Wanda couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose. With Jean Grey by their side, they were one step closer to uncovering Magneto's plans—and one step closer to stopping him.
Fracture's voice echoed in Wanda's mind. **"You're building quite the team, Maximoff. Or should I say... harem?"**
"Not now, Fracture," Wanda muttered under her breath, earning a curious glance from Jean.
"Everything okay?" Jean asked.
"Just thinking out loud," Wanda said quickly, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
