"If you want to do it, then go ahead and try," Arima said after some thought, ultimately deciding not to stop Aizen.
Studying the power of the Spirit King was Aizen's way of seeking the truth of the world. If he could analyze the structure of the Spirit King's power, it might allow him to advance further. However, this didn't mean that Arima wasn't curious about the Hōgyoku.
Even though the Hōgyoku was incomplete, it still contained immense power—provided Aizen could actually create it.
"I understand," Aizen said, not saying much else but quietly deciding to give it a try to see if he could realize his idea.
In the original timeline, Arima didn't know how Aizen came up with the idea of creating the Hōgyoku. But it seemed that fate had its own way of correcting things.
Even though Aizen was accepted as a disciple by Arima, he still ended up developing the idea of creating the Hōgyoku.
Of course, this may not have been fate's correction. It was simply Aizen's nature. Once he reached a certain limit, his curiosity about everything drove him to search for ways to break Shinigami's boundaries.
The creation of Hōgyoku was just one of his methods for breaking these boundaries. Before that, he had considered other ideas. But in the end, only one succeeded.
Therefore, it wasn't fate pushing Aizen toward creating the Hōgyoku. As long as Aizen continued to grow stronger and retained his relentless desire for knowledge, he would have reached this point sooner or later.
Yoruichi's training in Shunko wasn't going well.
To surround the body with high-intensity Kidō requires exceptional skill in Kidō, and Yoruichi wasn't a Kidō master. As a result, during her Shunko training, her Kidō either failed or exploded, causing injury.
The purpose of using Kidō in Shunko was to maintain it within the body and then release it from the shoulders. But when the Kidō exploded, Yoruichi was seriously injured.
Although Arima used Kaidō to heal her in time, the recovery wouldn't be immediate, and she wouldn't return to her peak condition quickly.
Several more attempts were made, all ending in failure.
"That's enough for today. You should rest for now. Don't try any more Shunko until you understand Kidō," Arima said, looking at the worn-out Yoruichi.
Yoruichi sighed, "I guess that's the only option."
As a descendant of the Shihouin family, she excelled in Shunpo and White Hits. Despite not having graduated from the Spiritual Arts Academy, her skills in those areas were already comparable to the Gotei 13's chief officers.
However, her Kidō and Zanjutsu skills were lacking.
She didn't like using swords, so her proficiency in Zanjutsu was average, and even though she had a Zanpakutō, she rarely used it. The same applied to Kidō.
Before learning Shunko, Yoruichi always believed that with the time it took to cast Kidō, she could use Shunpo to close the distance to an enemy and strike them with White Hits. She never realized just how powerful combining Kidō and White Hits could be.
Yoruichi could tell that this technique was incredibly powerful. If she mastered it, her White Hits would be greatly enhanced, and it would solve her biggest problem in close combat. She wouldn't even need to wield a sword to defeat strong enemies.
To master this technique, she needed to become proficient in Kidō.
Sitting on the ground, Yoruichi, still injured and not suitable for further training, decided to chat with Arima.
Ever since her grandfather asked Arima to teach her in private, she had become very curious about him.
Unfortunately, her search for information about Arima yielded little.
All she knew was that he had once been a disciple of the former Captain-General, and there was little else about him in Seireitei today.
The only things she knew were that Arima had a close relationship with Unohana Retsu, the captain of the Fourth Division, and that they had once attended a flower viewing event together.
This wasn't surprising—if Arima was truly such a senior figure, it wouldn't be unusual for him to know Unohana, who was equally esteemed.
However, the relationship between Arima and Hikifune Kiryu, the captain of the 12th Division, was also peculiar. He often visited the 12th Division and seemed to be assisting Hikifune Kiryu with her research, which had drawn the attention of Yoruichi's friend, Urahara Kisuke.
Urahara Kisuke had even come up with a theory: "The Shunko technique was most likely developed by Teacher Arima alone."
There was no doubt that Arima was an exceptional scientist.
Although Urahara Kisuke wasn't particularly young, he was incredibly talented. From a young age, he had taught himself much of Shinigami knowledge and conducted numerous secret studies.
After entering the Spiritual Arts Academy and receiving his Zanpakutō, he quickly mastered Shikai. Soon after, he began contemplating Bankai and developing his own ideas on the subject.
"Teacher Arima, may I ask you something?" Yoruichi finally asked, having nothing else to do.
"What's the question?"
"About Shinigami's Bankai," Yoruichi asked.
"Bankai?" Arima responded, then smiled. "As for you, if you want to graduate quickly, you can certainly do so."
"But I still can't believe you're so close to learning Bankai already."
"Teacher, do you doubt me that much?" Yoruichi complained when she heard his words. "I know I still have a long way to go, but that doesn't mean I can't ask for your advice."
"Of course, it won't affect anything," Arima replied sincerely.
Yoruichi continued, "From what I know, to learn Bankai, there are three conditions.
The first is to master Shikai to its fullest potential.
The second is for a Shinigami's Reiatsu to reach a certain level.
Once those conditions are met, you can attempt to realize the third condition, which is to manifest your Zanpakutō's true form."
