Chapter 21 - 21. Short Inquiry

His return back to the town was fairly uneventful, something which he was thankful for as he hefted the bag filled with the chopped heads of the three monster bears as he entered the town and made his way straight to the Guild as he reached the building and walked inside.

His arrival managed to grab the attention of the adventurers as he had gone with a party and has now returned all alone which caused them to look at him with curiousity and worry as well.

It was especially prevalent in Rhia as she panicked when she saw that he has returned to the Guild all alone as she had just spotted him as he made his way to the counter and stood in front of her.

"Ar-Armaros! What happened to your party?" Rhia asked in clear concern as she leaned forward and looked him over in worry.

"We were ambushed by a man wearing a dark blue cloak. We had just killed the monster bears when he attacked and killed the three of them." Armaros said to her as she was surprised at his words alongside the rest of the people inside the guild at the moment.

"H-He didn't hurt you?" Rhia asked in confusion as she could see that his body hasn't been hurt that much.

"No. He just sent me flying to a tree, thankfully that's all he did. I think he said that he let me go because I was a kid." Armaros said as he made a show of rolling his shoulders as he placed the bag on the counter.

"What's this?" Rhia asked as she eyed the bag.

"The heads of the three monster bears. I decided to bring it since I do need it. Don't worry, I used a healing potion." Armaros said to her as he showed her and empty potion bottle.

"Th-That's good. I mean, it's good that at least you are alive. Um, do you have their Adventurer cards at least?" Rhia asked him after she realised what she had blurted out.

"Yeah, here." Armaros said as he fished out the cards and gave it to her.

"Thanks." Rhia said as she took them and looked then over before she sighed.

She looked at her coworkers as they nodded before she gave him a small and comforting smile.

"Are you okay? Like really okay?" Rhia asked him gently as this situation was very different, as now he was attacked by a person.

"Yes, a bit shaken but that's the life of an adventurer." Armaros said as he shrugged his shoulders as he looked at her with a calm she was used to.

Rhia was always perplexed by how calm Armaros acted, very different from young Adventurers his age as they are usually very outgoing, energetic and excited about their life. But Armaros wasn't like that, he was calm and quite mature in comparison to the ones his age that she has dealt with.

He is one amongst the 15 young Adventurers currently working in this branch of the Guild, and she can safely say that he is the one who is the most calm and level headed amongst the ones in his age group.

She gave the cards to her coworkers and then looked at the inside of the bag to see the severed heads as she smiled gently at him.

"Why don't you go sit there and eat something? We will need you here for a bit." Rhia said to him as he nodded at her words.

"Okay." Armaros said to her as he went and sat at the bench and ordered some food to eat.

Rhia went away from the counter as he ate his food at the table as the other Adventurers were looking at him seriously. The fact that an entire party was killed by a single man was an alarming thing for them, especially since he had killed them in an ambush.

Armaros heard the footsteps behind him as he turned his head around and saw a female adventurer as he looked at her as she is looking at him with a serious expression. He recognised her as one of the B rank Adventurers in this branch.

"Kid, what happened at the place? In detail." The woman said to him seriously.

"We defeated and killed the monster bears that we were sent to kill. Then suddenly this man wearing a cloak appeared and killed our mage, before he killed the archer, then kicked me straight through a tree and finally he killed Stu before he decided to kick me again. He told me that he won't kill me since I am a kid." Armaros said with a straight face as he looked at her.

He noted how the rest of the adventurers were also paying attention to his words as he looked at the female adventurer as she stared at him as he kept his gaze on her and didn't break eye contact with her.

"What did he look like?" The adventurer asked as she kept her eyes on him.

"He wears a dark blue cloak, I couldn't see his face except for the area around his eyes with the only thing being his almost pale skin since he was wearing a mask and covering his head and he was also using gloves as well. Other than that he used a short sword to kill them." Armaros said as he finished his food.

"And how did he kil them? Stu and his party were good Adventurers regardless, and they wouldn't be that easily killed, even with an ambush." The woman said to him as she proved further.

"He went for quick and precise attacks, as he stabbed both the mage and archer through their necks in an instant before he kicked me. I wasn't even able to react before I was sent flying as I hit the tree and saw him decapitate Stu right after. He was much much stronger than the adventurers that I have seen." Armaros said with a shrug as he looked at her as she narrowed her eyes at him.

She was searching for any kind of deceit in his eyes but she didn't see any nervousness or uncertainty in his eyes, only a calmness which caused her to be a bit suspicious about him.

He was either telling the truth or he was really good at hiding his intentions. Either way, the fact that an entire C rank party was killed is true now, because she knows that Stu and his party are quite greedy when it comes to money and she is sure that they would be here to collect the reward for the quest.

She looked him over as she is able to see the damage to his clothes and armor as she can see that he is pretty banged up, and the damage that is on his armor and clothes is only ones that he could get from a blunt force.

'Well, he's still a kid after all.' The woman thought to herself as she looked at him.

"Alright kid, thanks for the info. We can be on the lookout and stay alert in case this guy appears again. You should count yourself lucky for being able to survive and encounter like that." The woman said to him with a smile.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Armaros said to her with a nod.

"My name is Hazel, a B rank Adventurer. Make sure to be careful in the future newbie." Hazel said before she walked away as he looked at her as she went away.

Armaros himself sighed as he looked at his lap as he felt the eyes of the other people inside the guild looking at him for a few more seconds before they started to talk amongst themselves. He understood that they had heard what he had said and are now making plans to ensure that they are ready for a fight against this new mysterious warrior that he had conjured up on the way to the town.

'Well, this is going to be a hassle, but I am in no mood for doing anything about it.' Armaros thought to himself as he remembered what he had heard from that man.

The fact that he would be kidnapped and sold as a slave was a disgusting thought to him. But slaves were a normal thing in this era and they were used and bought and were a commodity.

But he knows that he can't do anything about it, especially considering his powers and current strength and knew that he can't do anything, especially against the system which has been prevalent for many years.

'Still, the fact that they have been doing this for a while is concerning. How many more Adventurers are part of this slave business?' Armaros thought to himself as he waited for Rhia to come.

He knew that those who knew of Stu and his party's other work, would be concerned about the fact that someone had killed them and left him alone, which could be a sigh that the mysterious person knows about this.

He doesn't know if that will work, but he is fairly certain that this is a good plan for the moment. He will let their own fear and paranoia fester and hope that they will make a mistake that he will be able to exploit.

'What a world.' Armaros thought to himself as he ordered some more snacks.
