After the surprisingly delicious breakfast, everyone was in a good mood.
The mess hall was filled with laughter as Vivian decided to share embarrassing stories of Reid's childhood.
Normally, Reid would've been embarrassed but today was different. Today, he sat among people that he cared about, who also cared about him in return.
He couldn't help but smile with them.
Clara was nearly choking from laughter as Vivian dramatically reenacted the time a four-year-old Reid tried to "train" a wild squirrel to be his sidekick.
"He even gave it a name," Vivian said, wiping tears from her eyes. "Sir Nutsalot."
This caused the group to burst out in another fit oflaughter. Reid's cheeks turned a deeper shade of red, his earlier composure starting to crack.
Just as he opened his mouth to protest, Ellie jumped in with a teasing glint in her eyes.
