Chapter 308: Kardan Island Auction
The surrounding people looked on with curiosity, wondering about the identity of the man whose presence had the island's mafia acting so respectfully.
Charlotte looked down at the invitation in his hand.
"Who wants to come check it out tomorrow?"
Charlotte raised the invitation and asked.
"I do!"
"Me, me, me!"
"I want to go too!"
A crowd of little ones immediately raised their hands with sparkling eyes.
Seeing so many eager faces, Charlotte smiled.
"Alright, everyone can go!"
Of course, with over a thousand people in the crew, he couldn't take everyone. So Charlotte decided to bring only his wives and children—everyone else could make their own arrangements.
After all, it was just an auction. The main reason Charlotte was interested was because he was bored and wanted the kids to gain some worldly experience.
The next day came quickly.
Aside from the island's five great mafia families, no one else knew about the arrival of the Rockefeller Pirates.
Not because they didn't recognize Charlotte, but because the five families had deliberately blocked any information regarding their presence.
After all, if word got out that the Rockefeller Pirates were on the island… the auction would be over before it began. Everyone would flee.
Who would dare sit in the same room as the Rockefeller Pirates?
Charlotte's name had been heavily publicized by the World Government in recent years.
By now, he was known as a heinous criminal, utterly irredeemable.
Charlotte arrived at the auction house with his wives and children in tow.
Sergei, who had been waiting outside, quickly jogged up to greet them.
"Sir! Please, come this way!"
The commotion immediately caught everyone's attention.
After all, everyone else was lining up with invitations in hand.
But this man was being personally received?
"What kind of person is that? Even the Feldor Family sent someone to welcome him?"
"No idea, but he must be someone big. Look at all those people with him! We're only allowed one person per invitation."
"Bastards! They're treating the great Wolf King Pirates like nobodies! I'm going to kill them!"
"Captain, calm down! This is the turf of the Five Major Mafias. Our goal is the Devil Fruit. Don't blow our cover!"
As murmurs rippled through the crowd, Charlotte shot a sideways glance.
Everyone who met his gaze felt a chill from head to toe—an icy dread spreading through their bones.
The auction house fell quiet in an instant.
Years of accumulated presence made Charlotte's aura overwhelming.
His sharp gaze alone was enough to silence anyone.
"Please!"
Sergei noticed the tension immediately. Cold sweat dripping down his face, he quickly ushered Charlotte's group inside.
No complaints, no resistance.
Charlotte was led to a massive VIP private suite.
It was large enough to accommodate his entire group comfortably.
"If there's anything you need, sir, I'll be waiting right outside,"
Sergei said with a smile.
"Perfect. I have something I'd like to put up for auction."
Charlotte replied, sipping his tea.
Sergei, who had just turned to leave, paused in his tracks.
"What item, sir?"
Charlotte waved his hand, and Naitchin stepped forward with a box.
Opening it revealed ten vials of green liquid.
"These are longevity elixirs. They restore youthful skin and extend lifespan. Suitable for both men and women,"
Charlotte explained.
Sergei hesitated, his expression turning conflicted.
It sounded like a scam.
If anyone else had said it, Sergei might have just walked out.
But coming from Charlotte… he dared not doubt.
Charlotte noticed Sergei's hesitation and added:
"Relax. Quality is guaranteed. These were wildly popular among nobles in the North Blue—selling for around 50 million Beli per vial. If there's any issue, I'll take responsibility."
Hearing that, Sergei dared not argue further.
"Understood, sir! I'll have them verified immediately. If they're as effective as you say, we'll feature them as a final showcase item!"
He took the box and hurried out, with Naitchin following.
Charlotte hadn't exaggerated—the elixirs were Naitchin's latest breakthrough in herbal medicine. They really did improve health and prolong life.
Not long after, Sergei came jogging back, grinning ear to ear.
"Sir, your item has been verified by our experts—it does have noticeable effects! The auction house has decided to make it the grand finale item. It's sure to fetch a high price!"
Charlotte nodded in acknowledgment and said nothing more.
Sergei tactfully retreated, closing the door behind him.
Soon, the auction officially began.
The room buzzed with excitement.
"If you see something you like, just bid. Don't worry about me,"
Charlotte said to his wives.
The moment he said that, their eyes lit up.
After all, everyone loves to shop—especially beautiful women.
The first item appeared, and immediately, Martha couldn't sit still.
"One million Beli!"
She shouted, doubling the starting price.
Charlotte glanced at the gemstone necklace.
Jewels didn't interest him in the slightest—unless Martha wore it in bed.
Item after item came up for auction, and the women were thrilled.
Every few minutes, someone would win a bid, and the room filled with their happy chatter.
Then came the next item.
"Up next, a prize that's sure to catch the eye of all swordsmen!"
The auctioneer pulled off the red cloth, revealing a magnificent blade.
"This is one of the fifty-one Great Grade swords: Sword Rain, a rare double-edged weapon. For swordsmen who dream of surpassing the world's greatest, this is a must-have! After all, the strongest swordsman in the world—Charlotte Rockefeller himself—also wields a double-edged sword!"
The crowd buzzed with excitement.
Charlotte, lounging in the private suite, chuckled.
"How amusing. They're using my name now?"
"Dad, want me to teach them a lesson?"
Robert asked immediately.
Charlotte rolled his eyes.
"No need."
Robert pouted and sat down.
"Dad, I want to bid on it,"
Estes suddenly said.
"Hm?"
Charlotte turned to look at his usually quiet daughter.
"I want to collect legendary swords,"
she said frankly.
"Alright. Bid as you please,"
Charlotte replied casually.
