Chapter 269 - Chapter 269: Garp vs. The Red Count

Chapter 269: Garp vs. The Red Count

Redfield had trained in seclusion for six years, using the training method given to him by Charlotte. He thought that once he reemerged, he would be unstoppable.

But now, Shiki had managed to push him back.

"Kid! You're pretty strong! How about joining the Flying Pirates? I can make you my vice-captain!"

Shiki hovered midair, extending his hand toward Redfield.

Hearing this, the serious expression on Redfield's face disappeared.

Instead, a slight smile appeared.

"You're the second person to invite me."

It seemed like he was reminiscing about something, and his smile widened.

Shiki frowned.

"Are you mocking me?"

"Who was the first?"

Shiki asked coldly.

"You know him well—Rockefeller Charlotte. Six years ago, he invited me to be his vice-captain, but I refused."

Redfield answered without hesitation.

"So… you're rejecting me too?"

Shiki's tone turned sharp.

Redfield twirled his umbrella, the metallic ring echoing in the tense atmosphere.

"That's right."

Shiki stared at Redfield.

And Redfield stared back, unwavering.

Then—

"Kehahahaha! You're the second person to refuse me! The first was Charlotte!"

Shiki laughed loudly.

Redfield raised an eyebrow but remained silent.

"Don't regret it. And don't get in my way… Otherwise—Hmph!"

Shiki floated backward, deciding not to fight Redfield any longer.

His true target was still Roger.

"Roger! We're not finished yet! Die!"

Shiki charged at Roger, resuming their battle.

The battlefield erupted once more.

But as Garp observed the situation, his eyes locked onto Redfield.

His eyes narrowed, and then—

"**Move in! Get closer! I'm capturing the pirate Patrick Redfield!"

Garp shouted to his officer.

The officer hesitated for a moment before giving the order.

Garp cracked his knuckles, his excitement growing.

He had been itching to fight while watching Roger and Shiki battle.

Now, it was his turn.

The Marine warship turned toward Redfield at full speed.

Redfield turned his head.

"Interesting… The so-called Marine Hero Garp? And you're just a vice-admiral? You dare to challenge me?"

His expression relaxed, clearly not taking Garp seriously.

"Hahahaha! Pirate! Stand still and take my fist!"

Garp grinned, his voice booming.

Redfield's smirk deepened.

"A mere Vice-Admiral dares to think he can challenge me? You're overestimating yourself!"

He stood his ground, his umbrella coated in Haki.

Seeing that Redfield wasn't dodging, Garp grinned wider.

"Fist Bone: Meteor!"

Garp leapt from the warship, launching himself at Redfield.

The deck of the warship cracked beneath his feet, leaving a massive crater.

"A mere Vice-Admiral dares to challenge me? How foolish!"

Redfield scoffed, thrusting his umbrella forward.

CLANG!

Umbrella and fist collided.

Redfield's smirk vanished instantly.

His eyes widened in shock.

"Puah!"

Redfield spat out blood, his entire body hurtling backward like a ragdoll.

He skipped across the ocean's surface like a stone, before plunging into the sea.

Garp landed where Redfield had been standing, watching the ripples spread.

The sea roared.

Then—

Splash!

Redfield burst out from the ocean, gasping.

A trickle of blood ran down his lips.

"How… how can a Vice-Admiral be this strong?!"

He clutched his chest, feeling the pain radiating through his organs.

Garp just chuckled, feigning ignorance.

"Hahahaha! No idea!"

Hearing Garp's mocking tone, Redfield almost vomited blood again.

"If you're this strong, why are you still a Vice-Admiral?"

Redfield gritted his teeth.

Garp scratched his head.

"Oh, that? They offered me a promotion… but I turned it down. Too much paperwork!"

"PUH!"

Redfield coughed up blood again.

"Who in their right mind would refuse a Fleet Admiral position?!"

Redfield stared in disbelief.

"Enough talking! You're coming with me!"

Garp lunged forward, his fist cocked back.

If he didn't capture someone today, he wouldn't be able to face Fleet Admiral Kong.

Redfield was the perfect target.

Redfield gritted his teeth.

Even injured, he had no choice but to fight.

Surrounded by ocean, escape was impossible.

Meanwhile—

The battle between Roger's crew and Shiki's forces raged on.

Roger vs. Shiki.

Garp vs. Redfield.

The entire sea trembled from the intensity.

"Moshi Moshi! Marine HQ! This is Vice-Admiral **Garp's warship! We've engaged a massive pirate conflict!"

The Marine officer quickly reported back to Marineford.

"Roger Pirates! Flying Pirates! And the long-lost Red Count, Patrick Redfield!"

"The battle is intense! Vice-Admiral Garp is engaged with Redfield! Requesting immediate reinforcements!"

The message shook Marineford.

Alarms blared.

High-ranking Marines gathered in Fleet Admiral Kong's office.

"News from Garp! He encountered Roger, but also found Shiki!"

Kong's words stunned everyone.

"Fleet Admiral! We must send reinforcements immediately!"

Despite Garp's usual antics, many respected him.

Hearing that he was fighting Shiki and Redfield, they demanded a rescue mission.

Kong raised his hand, silencing them.

"It's not that simple. Garp isn't actually fighting both. Shiki is fighting Roger."

The room fell silent.

After a moment, the debate resumed—but with different concerns.
