"What will happen now?" The mermaid asked.
Hikari looked around her at the vast ocean. "It looks like you'll be able to live, so there's no need of any ceremony."
"I don't understand why a goddess would save me. What about Lord Mosa?"
"You can forget about that guy. He's been completely obliterated."
Soon the two of them were joined by Kurayami who flapped her wings beside her master. The dragon looked down at the poor mermaid. "Master, you're not planning on adding this one to your harem, too. Are you?"
Hikari glared at the silly dragon. "Why would I go around adding mermaids to my harem? I was just curious about them. I'd be interested to see where they live and why they haven't surfaced all of these years."
"Goddess," the mermaid said, "that second question is easy to answer. The reason for that lies in Lord Mosa. He offered us his protection with the promise of a sacrifice every year. Leaving the land was forbidden...Wait, what will happen to our protection now?"
