Chapter 499 - Chapter 499: So Many Little Ghosts

Neither Lu Fei nor Jing Jian could bear to say what came next.

This woman seemed to be on the brink of a breakdown. If she knew her child had met with an accident, she might collapse on the spot.

  "How did he disappear?"

The woman refused to believe it and pushed the iron gate forcefully.

"Open the gate for me, I'll go in and find him myself! My Tóngtóng is shy, he must have hidden because he saw strangers."

"Sister, it's dangerous in there, you'd better not come in..." Jing Jian still wanted to persuade her a bit more.

Lu Fei found some stones and with a few bangs, smashed the iron chain that was locking the door.

  "Thank you!"

The woman didn't find anything inappropriate about Lu Fei's actions and hurriedly ran into the kindergarten, searching everywhere.

"If we don't let her come in and search, she won't be satisfied. At least it's daytime now." Lu Fei gave Jing Jian a look, and the two followed the woman as she searched around the kindergarten.

  Sure enough, they found nothing.

"Tongtong, where are you? I've searched everywhere I can... Did you really see him here? Aunt Liang said that if I can't find him here, there is really no hope left..."

The woman looked at Lu Fei and the other with red eyes.

  The two exchanged a glance.

Lu Fei said, "Sister, we only caught a glimpse, and we can't be sure. Why don't you leave your phone number, so we can contact you immediately if we see the child again."

  "Thank you! Thank you!"

The woman bowed desperately, left her phone number, and then rushed off in a daze to search elsewhere, like a headless fly.

Looking at her desolate figure, Jing Jian shook his head.

"Lu Fei, her child only went missing yesterday; he wasn't even a student at this kindergarten. How could his soul have come here?"

"Maybe it's the evil spirits here causing trouble! Didn't you say that children have gone missing here before? But during the day, we probably won't be able to see anything. Aside from those Fu Lu dolls, there are no clues. We can only wait until night."

There were still a few hours until sunset.

Jing Jian's house was right next door, and he invited Lu Fei over to sit for a while.

Although it was an old house with rather simple furniture, it was clean and tidy.

Lu Fei could see the kindergarten playground from the balcony.

During the day, the kindergarten seemed calm and peaceful.

Apart from being a bit eerie, there was nothing unusual about it.

The two of them waited patiently until the sun went down.

Jing Jian boiled a pack of instant noodles to fill everyone's stomachs.

"Come on, Brother Jing, I just gave you several hundred thousand not long ago, and now you're treating me to instant noodles?"

"What's wrong with instant noodles? They're healthy and nutritious. I even added eggs and ham for you and you're still being picky..."

Lu Fei was eating when he suddenly heard what sounded like children playing and laughing outside.

  "Wait a minute!"

He immediately put down his chopsticks, walked quickly to the balcony, and looked toward the Red Moon Kindergarten.

  Under the dark sky.

The kindergarten was even darker, illuminated only by the scattered light from street lamps.

On the playground, those rusty playground facilities had somehow started moving on their own!

The eerie, joyful laughter of children echoed intermittently.

"No time for food! There's movement, let's go now!"

Lu Fei signaled to Jing Jian, opened the door, and hurried out with Xiao Hei.

  "Wait for me!"

Jing Jian quickly put down his bowl, grabbed the Seven Star Sword, and followed briskly.

Footsteps echoed through the dim, old alley.

The two men and the dog rushed into the kindergarten, and the spinning playground equipment suddenly stopped.

The laughter of the children disappeared all at once.

A sudden, bizarre silence fell over the kindergarten.

The two men looked around cautiously.

"There's something over there!" Jing Jian suddenly saw a red shadow flash by in the direction of the classroom.

  "After it!"

The two people and the dog hurried to chase after it.

The red shadow slipped lightly into a classroom.

  "Xiaohei, you guard the door."

After Lu Fei said this, he gently pushed open the door and walked in with Jing Jian.

The flashlight swept across the room.

The walls and floor were covered with dried bloodstains.

There was no sign of the red figure in the classroom, but behind the curtain, a corner of a red dress was visible.

Their eyes met, and they each took out their magical instruments, cautiously approaching the hem of the dress.

The hem of the skirt remained motionless.

"Let me try!" Jing Jian picked up the Seven Stars Sword.

Lu Fei yanked open the curtains.

Jing Jian immediately swung his sword, thrusting it towards the red shadow.

A faint starlight glimmered, but the red shadow offered no resistance; with a flick of the Seven Stars Sword, Jing Jian pulled it over.

It turned out to be only a bloodstained skirt.

  "It ran away?"

  The two quickly looked around.

As their gaze swept across the window, they couldn't help but feel a chill run down their spines.

The dusty windows were filled with many pallid, small faces!

The eyes on those little faces were like black glass beads, staring straight at them.

"Where did all these kids come from!" Jing Jian was greatly startled.

  "Why didn't Xiao Hei bark?"

Lu Fei had a bad feeling and quickly ran back to the door, where he saw Xiao Hei's body tense, his back arched, as if confronting something, appearing extremely nervous.

  "Xiao Hei, don't be afraid!"

Lu Fei, holding the lightning-struck wood, stepped out of the door.

Those pale children clustered around the windows suddenly dissipated. The next second, the playground equipment began to creak.

The children hid among the playground equipment, only their pale legs visible, watching Lu Fei and Jing Jian with sinister intent.

"Only two children died in the kindergarten, how can there be so many ghost children?" Jing Jian was astonished.

One or two little ghosts wouldn't be much, but a group of them was quite terrifying.

Lu Fei didn't pay attention to this, and looked in the direction where Xiao Hei was confronting.

At the very end of the pale children, there was a pair of thin children dressed in red clothes.

One wore a red dress, the other red shorts.

Their faces were hidden in the darkness, only revealing their abnormally thin legs as frail as chopsticks.

  "Red-clothed children!"

  Lu Fei's eyes narrowed.

The two children were holding hands, and just by standing there quietly, they gave an incredibly eerie and sinister feeling.

"They're finally out! Lu Fei, quickly catch them!"

Jing Jian was both nervous and excited. With a wave to Lu Fei, he tightened his grip on the Seven Stars Sword and led the way.

  Lu Fei immediately followed.

Xiao Hei followed closely by his side, appearing particularly vigilant.

This little spirit dog had never been afraid of anything, rarely showing such a cautious expression. Could it be that the pair of red-clothed little ghosts were very dangerous?

  Lu Fei narrowed his eyes.

As he and Jing Jian moved, those pale little ghosts hiding among the amusement facilities also turned their heads to follow them.

Their glass-like eyes were fixed on them.

They seemed like two villains who had interrupted a game, hated by all the children. With each step, the little ghosts appeared to get a bit closer.

The two involuntarily quickened their pace.

The pair of red-clothed little ghosts stood in the darkness, holding hands, watching them with a ghostly gaze.

Suddenly, a soft laugh rang out, a clear and childlike voice.

  "It's playtime!"

The pale little ghosts around them instantly became excited.

  "Hehehe!"

The amusement ride suddenly swung, and the little ghosts let out piercing, sharp laughs as they pounced towards Lu Fei and the other two.
