Chapter 494 - Chapter 494: Setting Fire

Lu Fei quickly found the location based on the fluctuations of yin energy in the porcelain basin.

The terrain here was lower, and the vegetation was unusually lush. Even in broad daylight, the air was particularly cold and gloomy.

The yin energy in the porcelain basin was spinning rapidly, continuously attracting yin energy from the surroundings.

As the yin energy crazily gathered, grotesque ghost faces flickered and tumbled within it, causing the porcelain basin to tremble. Faint sounds of wailing ghosts and howling wolves could be heard emanating from it.

Master Yuan and Dazhu were so frightened that their hearts skipped a beat.

Even Huzi felt his scalp tingle.

"Boss, this pot can gather yin energy, why are you still letting it absorb more? If it becomes more powerful, won't it be even harder to deal with?" Although Huzi knew that the boss must have his reasons for doing things, he couldn't help but ask.

"That's exactly what I want, for it to be difficult to handle."

Lu Fei smiled slightly, not explaining much, and focused on the porcelain pot.

He let the porcelain pot absorb the yin energy for over an hour, until there was almost no yin energy left in the mass grave, then picked up the pot and called everyone to go down the mountain.

"Prepare some firewood, we will tame this porcelain pot tonight."

"Boss, do you know which kiln it came from?"

"It will tell us when the time comes."

Lu Fei patted the porcelain pot.

On the way down the mountain, everyone picked up a lot of firewood and came to the two abandoned kilns.

As it was getting dark, Lu Fei had Hu Zi light both kilns.

Then, he approached with a white porcelain basin.

The yin energy inside the basin was churning. He held the basin close to the flames, observing carefully.

"No change, it seems it's not this kiln."

He shook his head and carried the porcelain basin to the next kiln.

"Hu Zi, make the fire burn brighter."

  "Got it!"

Hu Zi added a lot more firewood to the kiln.

Smoke rose, and a fierce fire raged inside the kiln. Lu Ren endured the scorching heat and brought the white porcelain basin close to the flames.

  Then.

The yin energy in the basin still hadn't changed.

  "Neither of them?"

Now, Lu Fei was also troubled.

He deliberately filled the porcelain basin with yin energy, so that its reaction would be more intense and easier to observe when it approached the furnace where it was made.

This is the instinctive reaction of all evil objects when facing something that can restrain them.

But the porcelain basin showed no significant changes when it was near these two furnaces.

"Where could it be? It seems I need to inquire in the village for any other kilns..."

Lu Fei was about to call everyone into the village.

"Who are you, and what are you doing?"

An old, anxious voice came from the direction of the village.

Everyone turned to look and saw an elderly man running towards them in a hurry.

"Who told you to start a fire here? This kiln is already ruined; don't cause a fire!" The old man glared at them angrily, scooped up a few handfuls of dirt, and threw them into the burning kiln.

"Sir, it's us. We asked you about the porcelain basin earlier today. We started this fire to dispel the evil spirits from the porcelain!"

  Master Yuan hurriedly explained.

"You?" The old man quickly looked at them, doubt appearing on his face, "Will starting a fire really help?"

"Manager Lu said we need to find the original kiln where the porcelain was fired. These two aren't the right ones. Sir, do you know where any other kilns are?" Dazhu asked anxiously.

The old man was momentarily stunned, as if he had just understood their meaning. He waved his hand and said, "Looking outside won't do any good. Those ceramics used the cursed bones of the dead; they wouldn't have burned them out here."

"So, sir, you mean at their homes?" Master Yuan's eyes lit up.

"That was so many years ago; how would I know? Everyone just guessed that. If you want to start a fire, be careful and don't let it get out of control." After saying this, the old man walked away with his hands behind his back.

"Senior Lu, he must be in someone's house!" Master Yuan looked at Lu Fei with piercing eyes.

  "Then let's go and try."

  Lu Fei nodded.

  "Master Lu, this way please."

Master Yuan led the way with great enthusiasm. They had already found out about the house earlier and went straight there.

The house was large, but it was in a state of extreme disrepair, with more than half of it collapsed. The ground was littered with ruins and overgrown with weeds.

  It was very desolate.

Everyone split up to search, and indeed they found a small porcelain kiln.

  "It must be this one!"

Firewood was the least scarce thing in the ruined house, and Da Zhu quickly gathered a pile of dry wood, stuffed it into the kiln, and couldn't wait to light it.

  "Manager Lu!"

He and Master Yuan looked at Lu Fei with great anticipation.

Lu Fei, holding a ceramic basin, moved it closer to the flames of the stove.

But just then, the dilapidated door suddenly slammed shut from the outside.

  Immediately after.

The sound of water being splashed came from outside.

"What's going on?" Everyone was confused.

"No, it's not water, it's gasoline!" No sooner had Hu Zi spoken than a large fire erupted outside.

The fierce flames instantly engulfed the entire house.

"How did it suddenly catch fire?"

"It's intentional, someone is trying to burn us alive!"

  "Why would they do that?"

Through the waves of heat, Lu Fei saw several moving figures outside the house.

Those people were throwing torches at the house, and one of them was the old man they had just met!

"Isn't that the kind old man? Why does he want to burn us to death?"

Everyone was both shocked and angry.

"Let's get out first!" A chill flashed in Lu Fei's eyes as he scanned his surroundings, searching for a way to break through.

Huzi hurried to ram the door, but after a few attempts, he realized that a large stone was blocking the door.

They were determined to burn them to death!

They didn't even know these people, so where did such great malice come from?

"Damn it, once I get out, I'm going to beat that old turtle to death!" Husi burst out in a fit of rage.

The dilapidated house was doused with gasoline, and in moments, they were surrounded by a raging fire.

The only way out was through the roof.

"Little Umbrella!" Lu Fei took out the black umbrella.

Strands of hair fluttered, wrapping around everyone, and carried them through the roof and out into the air.

  "They can fly!"

The few people outside were dumbfounded and dropped their torches, turning to run away.

"Little Umbrella, don't let them get away!"

As soon as Lu Fei's feet touched the ground, he threw the black umbrella forward.

The strands of hair flew out, wrapping around their throats, pulling all of them back.

As these people moved slightly, the hair tightened fiercely, making it impossible for them to breathe.

Dazhu and Master Yuan were dumbfounded.

Dazhu looked at Lu Fei as if he were looking at a deity.

He only felt his eyes blur, and then he was flying, somehow escaping the raging fire.

Master Yuan, on the other hand, was filled with lingering fear and only now truly understood who he was dealing with.

That day in the cemetery, he had actually dared to deceive this person right in front of him.

Truly, he did not know life from death!

Back then, if Lu Fei had wanted, he wouldn't have been able to leave the cemetery at all.

"Speak, why did you set the fire?"

The black umbrella returned to Lu Fei's hand, and his eyes were like ice.

Hu Zi rushed forward and stepped on the old man's head with his foot.

"Our boss is asking you a question! We haven't offended you, so why are you trying to burn us to death?"

"I, I, we didn't do it on purpose, it was just an accident..." the old man stammered, his face full of fear.

The other two men must be his sons.

  "Still pretending?"

Hu Zi grabbed the old man and pushed him closer to the raging fire.

"Do you believe me if I say I'll accidentally set one of you on fire too?"
