Chapter 420 - Chapter 420: Possessed

Zhang Molin looked up at the gradually darkening sky.

He reached out and knocked on the courtyard gate.

Shortly, an ordinary-looking middle-aged man came to open the door, looking at the few people outside with confusion.

  "Who are you?"

"Sir, may I ask if your family has lost something?" Zhang Molin bowed to the middle-aged man.

"Lost something?" The middle-aged man looked bewildered, "What was lost?"

Zhang Molin turned his head and looked at Lao Pao.

Lao Pao was somewhat hesitant to step forward, and Hu Zi gave him another kick.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I shouldn't have taken anything from your home, I was wrong, please forgive me. I didn't touch any of the gold and jewelry; I'll return everything to you!" Lao Pao stuffed the suitcase into the man's hands, bowing repeatedly to beg for forgiveness.

  "What do you mean?"

The middle-aged man was even more confused, opening the suitcase and taking a look inside. The golden glow inside startled him, and in horror, he threw the suitcase back into the old man's hands, his face full of caution.

"These aren't my belongings! We haven't lost anything, you've got the wrong person!"

This reaction left everyone looking at each other in bewilderment.

Could it be that he was not willing to let go of the old man and his group?

"Sir, take another good look," Zhang Molin said seriously, "He stole this from under your daughter's bed..."

"What did you say? My daughter..." The middle-aged man turned to look at his wife and daughter behind him.

The mother and daughter were outside the chicken coop, scattering grain to feed the chickens.

"My little girl, where would she get such valuable things! Stop trying to deceive us!" The middle-aged man clearly regarded them as frauds and reached out to close the door.

  However, just at this moment.

The last rays of the sunset faded away at the horizon.

His eyes suddenly went blank, and his entire body stiffened.

With his hand on the door, he stood motionless as if frozen in place.

After a couple of seconds, he seemed to be oblivious to Lu Fei and the others outside, turning around and walking into the house with a mechanical movement, leaving the door open.

"What's wrong with him?" The old soldier held the suitcase, feeling both startled and puzzled.

  "Follow him."

It was clear that the man was not acting normally. Lu Fei made a prompt decision and immediately led everyone into the yard, carefully following the middle-aged man and watching as he mechanically walked into his own room.

He undressed and got into bed.

Not only did the middle-aged man act this way, but his wife and children did the same.

As if they had all received an instruction to go to bed the moment it got dark.

As the sky completely darkened, the large three-story house appeared especially eerie and deserted.

Seeing the bizarre behavior of this family, Lao Pao's hair stood on end.

If not for Lu Fei and the two others being present, he would have already fled with his suitcase.

"Lu Fei, did you notice it too?" Zhang Molin frowned tightly.

"That's right, they are possessed!" Lu Fei nodded. He saw a black aura around the eyes of the family of three.

This family goes to sleep as soon as it gets dark, and they seem to be in a deep, death-like sleep, because they are possessed.

It's just that the reason is still unknown at this point.

"Should we wake them up now?"

"Wait a moment, let's first check out what's going on with those headless chickens."

After thinking for a moment, Lu Fei turned on his flashlight and walked toward the chicken coop.

Zhang Molin hurried to catch up.

And Huzi watched Lao Pao from behind, being cautious to prevent him from escaping.

The chicken coop was on the side of the house, dark and silent, exuding a stench of a mix of dry hay and chicken manure.

  "Be careful."

Lu Fei pulled out his lightning-struck jujube wood stick and shone the flashlight into the chicken coop.

Everyone tensely opened their eyes wide.

But inside, it was empty, with only feathers scattered all over the ground.

  "Empty?"

But before it got dark, that mother and daughter were clearly feeding the chickens; Lu Fei became even more puzzled by the family's strange behavior.

  "Molin, what do you think..."

Lu Fei turned his head, and his eyebrows instantly twitched.

Behind him, there was no Zhang Molin, Hu Zi, or Lao Pao; only three headless people!

Lu Fei's heart sank, but he quickly reacted.

  "Fake!"

He steadied his mind, channeling his magic power to his eyes, and with a blink, the scene in front of him changed instantly.

  Zhang Molin stood there, dazed.

Hu Zi raised the ghost-head blade in his hand and swung it at Lao Pao's neck.

  "Hu Zi! Stop!"

Lu Fei reached out and slapped Hu Zi's forehead hard.

Hu Zi, startled, his eyes regained their clarity, and upon seeing Lu Fei, they filled with surprise and joy.

"Boss, your head didn't fall off!"

"Nonsense! That was just an illusion!" Lu Fei glared at him and then slapped Lao Pao to wake him up.

"Headless man! The headless man is back..." Lao Pao shouted in panic, but when he looked around and saw everyone standing there unharmed, he was utterly confused.

Following that, Zhang Molin also came out of the illusion.

  "Lu Fei, what just happened..."

  "Nothing!"

Seeing that everyone was safe and sound, Zhang Molin felt relieved.

When they all looked back at the chicken coop, a row of headless chickens were neatly perched on the roost, their bodies already rotten, emitting a strong stench of decay.

"These chickens died long ago, but this family couldn't see it. They must have been bewitched too!" Zhang Molin blurted out, then a hint of confusion appeared on his face, "But why are these chickens headless?"

"It must be the Decapitation Curse. As for the reason it formed, I'm not sure," Lu Fei said thoughtfully.

"First a demonic possession, then a decapitation omen, what on earth did this family encounter?" Zhang Molin was stunned.

No wonder Egg's neck had a line of blood and his head was separated from his body, it's indeed a decapitation!

"It must have something to do with those jewelry!" Lu Fei glanced at Old Cannon, "Didn't they all get possessed after taking the jewelry as well?"

Old Cannon held the suitcase timidly, not daring to speak.

"Then we need to wake up this family right away." Zhang Molin felt a sense of urgency, "Decapitation is a major calamity; we must find out the origin of the jewelry as soon as possible, otherwise, if it happens again, Egg's life will be in danger."

Hearing this, Old Cannon also got anxious.

But Lu Fei waved his hand: "Waking them up directly might not make them believe us, they might even consider us as bad guys."

"What should we do then?" Zhang Molin frowned.

"Simple! Just wake up the two adults, once they notice something is wrong with their child, they will naturally be concerned." Lu Fei smiled slightly.

"Great idea!" Zhang Molin admired Lu Fei from the bottom of his heart; no matter what trouble, Lu Fei always has a way to handle it, why couldn't he think of such solutions?

"This is a small matter, I can handle it."

  "Alright."

Lu Fei and the others hid themselves.

Zhang Molin lit two yellow talismans and wafted the smoke towards the couple's eyes.

  As the flames went out.

The couple indeed woke up, and then they heard strange noises coming from their daughter's room. Alarmed, they quickly got out of bed to check on her.

  "Xiaomai, what's wrong Xiaomai?"

The couple pushed open the door.

Their daughter was lying heavily on the bed, making a creepy grinding sound with her teeth.

  "Xiaomai?"

A strange panic rose in both of their hearts. They walked over and pulled back the blanket, only to be instantly frightened out of their wits.

"Ah..." the mother screamed, "What is she eating?"
