Seth and Andrea traced the thread of fate, which led them to the academy's training grounds. There, a boy around their age was practicing swordsmanship, his focus unyielding as he moved with precision and strength. His stance radiated a quiet intensity, and the clinking of his blade slicing through the air was the only sound around.
As they observed him, the Celestial Nexus System activated for Sebastian, displaying the boy's basic information:
---
Name: jake
Age: 15
Bloodline: Descendant of Adrian, Guardian of Humanity
Awakened Ability: Light's Dominion (Inactive)
Current Focus: Swordsmanship
---
Seth turned to Andrea, whispering, "This boy... he's the descendant of Adrian, the Guardian of Humanity. He has Light's Dominion—the same power as his ancestor."
Andrea raised an eyebrow, intrigued but puzzled. "If he has that ability, why isn't he using it?"
Unsure of how to approach him, Seth encouraged Andrea to try talking to him. She stepped forward with her usual confidence, attempting a friendly tone. "Hey, do you know aboutyour power?"
The boy barely reacted, continuing his training without so much as a glance in her direction. Annoyance flickered across Andrea's face, but she maintained her composure, though Seth could sense her simmering frustration.
Undeterred, Andrea tried again, "You want to know a secret?"
The boy's expression didn't change; he kept his focus on his sword, ignoring her as if she weren't even there.
Feeling Andrea's patience thinning, Seth stepped forward. "We know about your power ."
At that, the boy paused briefly, his eyes flicking toward Seth, a hint of suspicion in his gaze. But he resumed his training, seemingly uninterested.
Andrea's eyes narrowed, but she quickly composed herself. "You have a very strong power".
The boy's irritation finally broke through as he stopped mid-swing and looked at them. "And how are you so sure about that?"
Andrea clenched her fists, her anger barely contained, but she decided to keep Seth's identity as the successor under wraps. "Never mind," she said, trying to pull Seth back, hoping to end the conversation before she lost her patience.
But Seth wasn't ready to walk away. Standing his ground, he said, "I know because I'm the successor of Juan Miguel. And I can tell when I meet the descendants of the Guardians."
Jake's face twisted with disdain, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, so you're the successor," he said, clapping his hands slowly. "Congratulations. Why don't you go save Abyssia all by yourself, 'mighty successor'?"
Unfazed, Seth met Jake's angry gaze. "I can't do it alone. Abyssia is facing a catastrophe soon, and I need the descendants' strength—your strength."
Jake scoffed, turning back to his sword. "I'm not interested," he said flatly, preparing for another swing. "And I'm not using my ability."
Seth took a deep breath, sensing the deep resentment and pain in Jake's voice. "If there's something troubling you about your power, we can help. You're not alone in this."
Jake's grip on his sword tightened, and he let out a bitter laugh. "Help? Like you understand." He stopped, taking a moment to compose himself, then added coldly, "No matter what you say, I'm not using it."
The boy sheathed his sword and started to walk away, leaving Seth and Andrea standing in silence. As he moved toward the exit, memories began to surface, vivid and haunting.

Flashback
A younger Jake, only five years old, was playing joyfully with his friends. The sunlight danced around him, and as he reached out his hands, he felt a strange, wonderful warmth—a glow from within. His friends cheered as he gathered the light in his palms, calling him amazing.
But then, without warning, the light exploded. The warm glow turned into a searing burst that consumed everything around him.
Jake stared, horrified, as his friends lay still, their bodies burned, their laughter replaced by silence. He fell to his knees, unable to look away from the devastation he'd caused.
Later, he had run home, his face streaked with tears, collapsing into his grandfather's arms. His voice shook as he told his grandfather what had happened. But instead of shock or sympathy, his grandfather had laughed with glee. "Finally, after a thousand years… our family has produced someone with Light's Dominion! Come, Jake, show it to me!"
Jake only shook his head, retreating further from the power that had caused so much pain. "I can't... I won't..."
From that day on, Jake had sworn never to use that cursed power again, no matter the cost.

End of Flashback
Back in the present, Jake stopped just outside the training grounds, his chest heavy with the weight of those memories. Quietly, he whispered to himself, his voice filled with sorrow, "How could I ever bring myself to use that power again?"
The echoes of the past haunted him, a burden he was determined to carry alone.
