Chen Ke tossed the change of clothes in his hand into the trash can, with the Holy Relics diamond and the HEMA club membership card tucked in the inner pocket of his suit. His old clothes had nothing in them.
Then he pushed open the door and entered the audio store, where some customers were queuing up to pay with their disc cases in hand.
The store was playing soothing music, Taylor Swift's "Love Story," released in September 2008. Chen Ke hummed along with the rhythm as he approached the assassin.
In a corner at the very back, the assassin was pretending to sample the discs. Chen Ke took off the Gonggong clip-on earphones he was wearing and smiled at him.

The assassin was caught off guard and seemed to be at a loss, not expecting Chen Ke to discover him.
But the assassin's instincts still took over. A folding knife slid out from his right sleeve, flicking open its blade towards Chen Ke.
