The regulars at Black Sail all thought this idea was ridiculous and never took it seriously. Sure, for a cold or flu, grabbing some medicine was fine, and for injuries, coming in for some bandaging, setting bones, or casting could do, but as for organic disease of the viscera, forget about it. There was a universally acknowledged truth: public services often were inferior to private ones.

And with publicly operated pirate services, that was even more of a pipe dream. Nobody expected to actually cure anyone; it was all for show, an understood charade, nothing but a gimmick.
