Chapter 24 - Chapter 12 (Part 2)

Seeing this, his heart sank.

If this was an act, the woman should have become an actress in a theater, not some boring duchess.

Herdin, raising himself from leaning against the window, ordered the hypnotist.

"...Wake her up."

"We're right at the summit. We must overcome this wall to awaken the memories buried in the subconscious."

The hypnotist, absorbed in the hypnosis, ignored Herdin's order and continued to push Blair.

"Come on, open the door. You have to open the door and go out to survive. Hurry—"

Herdin grabbed the hypnotist by the collar and lifted him up.

"I said stop and wake her up!"

The hypnotist, facing Herdin's murderous eyes, finally realized he had upset him and froze.

"I-I'm sorry, Your Grace."

Herdin released him as if throwing him away and approached Blair.

"Wake up, Blair."

He lifted Blair, who was still gasping as if about to die.

Blair, who had been twisting her body and sobbing in pain, suddenly opened her eyes. At the same time, the tears that had been welling up in her eyes flowed down.

"Huk... Huu..."

But even after waking from the hypnosis, she was still unable to breathe, as if trapped in flames. Her pupils, too, were unfocused, despite her eyes being open.

Herdin stroked her back, which was trembling as if having a seizure, and whispered softly.

"Breathe. Slowly."

Following his hand slowly stroking her back, Blair's breathing began to stabilize at the same pace. Her unfocused eyes also gradually regained their light with each blink.

Finally, when his image was fully reflected in her teary purple eyes, Herdin let out a shallow sigh.

He carried Blair to her bedroom, leaving behind the frightened hypnotist.

After seating Blair on the bed, Herdin examined her once more. Whether his image was reflected in those eyes.

Having confirmed this, he stood up.

"Herdin."

A thin voice urgently held back the man who was about to turn away.

"In the memory just now, I faintly heard voices. Someone talking outside the wardrobe. The sound was too low to hear what they were saying, but..."

Herdin, who had been watching her for a moment wondering what she was talking about as soon as she regained her senses, burst into laughter.

The woman was talking about the memory she had just seen through hypnosis.

Despite wanting to escape from that memory so badly that she had chosen to die in the wardrobe in the end.

"Maybe next time, I might be able to... come out of the wardrobe. The voice I heard today was one I hadn't heard before."

Anger suddenly welled up at her calm voice talking about the next time.

She had been crying as if she was about to die, gasping for breath. And now, with her eyes still red from unshed tears, she brings that up first.

"Is that important right now?"

Although it was a voice that suppressed emotion as much as possible, the coldness in those eyes was clear.

Then what could be more important?

Blair blinked her eyes in confusion at his angry appearance.

"The purpose of calling the hypnotist was to awaken memories, wasn't it?"

Blair, who had been thinking for a moment about why he was angry, soon guessed the reason.

She thought he was angry because she couldn't endure and woke up just when they were about to approach the truth of that day.

"Next time, I'll try to endure a bit more. There won't be any problems with the contract, so don't worry too much."

Although she spoke calmly, her small hands placed on the blanket were still trembling. Enough for him to see.
