Chapter 30 - Chapter 30:

Despite everything that had occurred in the last few months for them, they all still kept going on with whatever they needed to get done. But even after all that time, most of their pasts were still not there, they still don't remember what happened to them initially. But whatever the case was, the trio would still find themselves hanging around where they had initially come to.

Was it nostalgia? Was it to allow them to hope that they could remember what happened? None of them were really sure, but they would take the time to merely relax and actually joke about their situations. But while also giving their own theories on what happened to them prior to this whole fiasco they were in.

Alex mentions that he wouldn't be surprised if they had someone been transported into this world from another one, now with their memories gone, kind of like how some shows and books would do for stories. Mike mentions that if that were the case, then their story likely wouldn't be how it is right now, so he joked about that idea.

But his own idea was just reiterating the point the Admin had mentioned to them prior, with them likely being some mercenaries or the sort that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Which would lead them to find themselves out here among building rubble. But if that were the case, it would make it questionable on how they even ended up there without any weapons, or without demons killing them.

This time, Alex decided to make jokes, mentioning how maybe they were too poor for any demons to want to kill them, maybe so much so that they actually felt pity for them. And Pat then chimes in that he wouldn't be surprised if they had just been dared to go out to the building without any weapons just for the sake of the dare and some money, which would seem entirely plausible for how the other two were, with them dragging him along.

And when asked about what he thinks happened to them, Pat doesn't really know how to answer the question. He gives his own shrug at it, saying that it probably doesn't matter too much anymore given that they already live these new lives. And if their past did ever return to them, then they can deal with it then. But for now they should just enjoy their time alive and awake, whether they're from this world or not.

"Hey, you never know, we could be stuck in this place, and now we gotta go on this whole 'awesome,' and 'rad' adventure where we meet tons of new people." Alex continues to mess around as he says that, knowing that that sounded cliche. Whatever it was, they still kept hanging around, just talking about whatever they could think of.

The topics they had ranged from anything of the sort. They joked about what kind of events must've led to Gris being the way that she is, about how Sebastian threw that eyepatch he had away not too long after getting it, and eventually their talk landed back onto Cassian. The first person that they had met when they woke up, the person who had initially helped them through the initial struggle they had. Initially they joked about why he was in the black market if he was a licensed demon hunter, or why there would even need to be licenses before they got to talking about what happened to him.

They all gave their own theories on what happened, with Alex saying that he is on the side that Cassian likely survived somehow, Pat was on the side that Cassian likely was right about the rift into Hell thing and he was likely gone forever, but Mike then admits that he had taken the time out of one of his days to return back there with some gear to scavenge the bottom of the pit. The other two were intrigued by that.

Not only because he doesn't seem like the kind of person who'd go out of his way to do that, but because they had been told by other Union members that they didn't find him there, so what was the point of him going down there? It was simple: He wanted to see it with his own two eyes. He decided to head down, and it turns out that they were being told the truth. Because Cassian's body wasn't down there.

So it had to have been one of those two ideas that they were given, and they decided to discuss among themselves about which one was more likely as they left the rubble pile. And one of the things that Mike also did mention was that he went down to where Cassian had mentioned there being demons down there, which had initiated their initial plan to deal with it before Sebastian got in their way of doing it.

And Mike tells them that anything he found there wasn't really important. There were papers down there, but they were all torn or marked out, meaning that that was his second attempt at going down somewhere like that without gaining anything before a snarky remark was made by Alex, "At least you weren't knocked out the second time around."

The banter exchange between the friends continued as they decided to trace their initial steps as much as they could. Which accumulated to them now back on the hill that they stood upon when they first saw a demon, and the same hill where they saw Cassian kill that very same demon. When they got to the top of it, they looked onwards to the horizon until they looked down and saw a large group of demons.

The trio looked on at them before Mike decided to run headfirst into the hoard, not caring about himself. Instead yelling out to them, "Come on! Let's see what we can do now!" And Alex ran after him, calling him out for not trying to think of a plan and Pat tried to follow, only to fall on his way down the hill before getting back up to join the other two in whatever this day had to offer them, and onwards.
