Chapter 197 - Humanity Vs OEBD

After a few hours spent jogging and having fun, the group of Harry van Hestia, Bell Cranel, Leon Vardenburg, Finn Deimne, and Ottar finally arrived at their destination, feeling really warmed up after the little cardio session from Orario to the Dragon Valley.

The chasm was deep and dark and teeming with all sorts of Dragon-type monsters: wyverns, infant dragons, lizards, dragons, and more, but in order to show dominance, Harry stepped forth and looked around. Dramatically pointing to Bell, he spoke: "Bell, use a double-crescent flying slash to kill them all, will you?"

Bell nodded and stepped beside Harry, putting a hand on each side of his hips. He bent down slightly, and the world seemed to freeze. A deep breath and a grunt of exertion were heard as Bell rapidly drew his daggers and used that very motion to unleash two powerful, golden flying slashes, which crossed into one another and detonated. The Result? All monsters were dead, and Bell's daggers were sheathed again.

"Is that good enough, Master?"

"Passable."

"Yay!"

Finn, Ottar, and Leon showed their own levels of approval, nodding, whistling, or, in Leon's case, saying, "Good job, partner," a.k.a. complementing Bell on his strength.

"Alright, guys, I think we all know what to do next, right?" Harry asked as he rubbed his hands together while an aura of death surrounded him.

"If we're on the same trail of thought, yeah," Finn said, grinning.

Harry then snapped his fingers and used earth-style chakra to manipulate the area in a manner so as to create an open area for them to battle and simultaneously reveal the dragon's seal, which, surprisingly enough, was still active.

"Guys, I think you should have a crack at it before I do. I might just kill the thing in a single shot after all." Harry said as he stepped back, allowing them to jump down and try their luck at fighting the Black Dragon or waking it up, since it was still sealed.

The Quartet made their way to the Dragon and gave it a wake-up call with their attacks. Nothing seemed to faze it, and only their combined strongest techniques even broke the seal, not inflicting any lasting harm on the dragon whatsoever.

"Dang it, how is it so tough?! Even using our most powerful moves didn't help at all."

The dragon, a huge, hulking figure of pure black, opened its single eye, the right one, and rose into the skies as it opened its mouth with a titanic amount of magic gathered in said mouth. Only one thought ran through the minds of the quartet: Ooh Shi-

"Hey, that won't do, big guy." The calm and nonchalant voice that was all too familiar sounded right in front of them as Harry just held up a hand and the magic 'died' in the dragon's maw. Harry used his authority over Death to 'kill' the magic before it could be shot at them.

"I think I'll have you join me in fighting it by doing this."

Harry snapped his fingers and buffed his teammates with his power, making them strong enough to be able to damage the creature but not one-shot it. "Alright, it's go time, guys. Show me what you can do when you have the means to do it." Harry's motivational voice sounded on the battlefield as Bell, Leon, Ottar, and Finn rose to their feet and brandished their weapons again. Now strong enough to do something, they won't disappoint Harry and mankind.

Harry's hand dropped to his side as a golden glow settled over the quartet. Their bodies pulsed with newfound strength—magic saturated every breath, their weapons hummed with purpose.

Across the battlefield, the Black Dragon stirred—thirty meters of malice made flesh. Midnight-black scales gleamed under the harsh sun, each the size of a tower shield. One eye, glowing like a dying star, fixed on them. Then—

ROOOOOOAAAAAAARRRR!

The scream tore through the chasm, splitting rock, cracking the earth. A sonic boom echoed outward, flattening trees in the far distance. The valley trembled under the sheer force of the beast's presence.

And Ottar charged it head-on.

"YAAAHHHH!"

His longsword gleamed silver-blue as it carved the air. He leapt with the power of a siege weapon, slamming the blade into the dragon's thigh. A burst of impact cracked the bone beneath, forcing the beast to flinch.

Leon followed, a streak of violet lightning dancing across his blade. "Don't slow down now!"

He zipped behind the dragon, vaulting off a crag of rock, and drove his sword into its underbelly. "Thunder Piercer!"

Finn was already airborne, Gungnir spinning. "Mark it—right between the horns!"

With flawless aim, the spear struck the base of the dragon's skull and detonated in a blast of spiraling light. The dragon's head was forced down, jaw slamming into stone.

"Bell, now!" Finn barked.

Bell blurred forward, daggers out.

"Moonlight Crescendo!"

A flurry of golden slashes carved through the dragon's throat, sparks dancing off its scales, each blow faster and stronger than the last. The sheer number of hits created a glowing spiral of magic energy, wrapping around the dragon's neck like a noose.

The Black Dragon shrieked.

Its wings exploded outward, creating a pressure shock that hurled everyone back—except one man.

Harry didn't move.

Floating just above the battlefield, he sighed and cracked his neck. "Alright. That's enough cardio for you guys."

He landed softly, cracking the ground under his feet.

The Black Dragon turned its full attention on him, and for the first time in its millennia of life... it hesitated.

"C'mon then," Harry whispered, flexing his fists. "Let's dance."

The beast struck, jaws open to swallow him whole.

Harry met it with a single, devastating uppercut to the chin.

BOOOOOM!

The dragon's head snapped back. Time seemed to pause. A shockwave tore through the sky, parting clouds as the dragon's thirty-ton head was lifted a full ten meters into the air. Its massive body followed, flung upward like a ragdoll.

"Holy sh—" Leon muttered from the ground.

Harry leapt up after it, bouncing off falling boulders like they were stepping stones. He caught up in midair, twisted, and dropkicked the dragon's chest, sending it crashing back into the canyon wall.

The valley shuddered.

Dust and stone erupted like an earthquake. The impact carved a new cliffside into the earth.

Harry landed with a little hop. "That's two."

The Black Dragon dragged itself from the crater, wings tattered, chest dented. It roared again—louder than before.

Its scales glowed.

Magic gathered.

It opened its mouth, conjuring a world-ending inferno.

And Harry?

Harry just walked into it.

The black fire swallowed him whole.

"Harry!" Finn shouted.

"No!" Bell yelled.

The flame raged for nearly ten seconds—until, suddenly, it flickered and died. Like someone had unplugged the sun.

And standing there, shirtless, arms folded, was Harry.

Steam rose off his skin. His smirk was still intact.

"Nice try."

He vanished.

And reappeared inside the dragon's mouth.

The beast gagged.

Harry's fist shot outward from its cheek.

BOOM.

Then again from its throat.

BOOM!

And finally—

"STAY DOWN!"

He punched straight through the skull, bursting out from the top of its head in a geyser of black ichor and shattered scale.

The dragon gave a final, pathetic groan before collapsing like a deflated mountain.

Silence.

Finn, Leon, Ottar, and Bell stood in awe as Harry floated down beside the dragon's twitching corpse. His shirt was gone, knuckles glowing faintly.

"Welp," he said casually. "That's three."

Bell, still panting, looked up at him with wide eyes. "M-Master…"

"Don't worry," Harry grinned. "You guys did the heavy lifting. I just polished it off."

The group stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the battle catching up to them.

Finn wiped his brow. "...So, girls next?"

Harry snapped his fingers, conjuring a fresh shirt.

"Let's not keep them waiting."
