He knew he couldn't have her.
Not really.
Not someone like her.
Still, he smiled genuinely, if a little bittersweet and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Would you… maybe like a tour of the island?" he asked, voice a little shy, a little hopeful. "You can enjoy yourself until your boyfriend arrives. There's not much here, but we have a beach, a few cliff spots, and an old wind tower. It's quiet. Not many people."
Lilith opened her eyes slowly and looked at him.
He was trying. He knew where the line stood.
And still, he offered her something kind.
She studied him for a beat longer than necessary.
Then, the corners of her lips lifted slightly. "Hmm… a tour by my temporary island guide?"
Jack chuckled softly, shrugging. "Hey, I may not be a smart robot like yours, but I know how to make a good lemonade on the way."
Lilith stretched slightly and stood from the bed, her long hair cascading down her back as she adjusted the simple outfit Jack's mother had given her.
