The two women descended the damp staircase cautiously, not daring to make a sound.
There was an intermittent and sometimes pungent odor of blood.
Although there was not a shred of light around for illumination, Qu Hongling and Yelü Miaomiao, being skilled, were not affected in their vision. It was only that occasionally some fog drifted in the air, preventing a better observation of the situation beneath the passageway.
Once they reached the ground, some dark red shadows appeared all around them.
These shadows emanated from moss on the walls.
The moss was dark red, seemingly smeared with a luminous powder, casting the entire cave in a sinister red glow.
Yelü Miaomiao looked around and, upon reaching an open space inside the cave, was startled to see a pile of large skeletons there.
One of the bones was even thicker than an ordinary well mouth.
"What animal's bones are these?" Yelü Miaomiao asked curiously.
