Lu Chenyuan came downstairs after having taken a shower. He was wearing khaki loungewear, which lessened the suffocating seriousness he exuded when in a suit and leather shoes.
"Back so late? Have you had dinner?"
Lu Chenyuan walked up close to Lin Yan, his hand on her waist.
"I ate at the office. I almost hit a woman on the road, which held me up."
Lin Yan felt a lingering fear thinking about tonight; that woman had acted as if she had a death wish, appearing in such a place late at night. Luckily, Lin Yan had reacted quickly.
As a partner, Lin Yan always felt that Lu Chenyuan was a steady presence.
Hearing her say this, Lu Chenyuan didn't rush. He looked her up and down and said gently, "As long as no one got hurt, that's good. Next time I'm not around at night, have the driver take you."
Lin Yan nodded and raised her hand to rub her sore shoulders. Sitting all day in the office without much movement had taken its toll.
