Chapter 299 - Chapter 299

["The SCP Foundation agents, upon coming into contact with Charles, ensured his safety at all times, monitoring his surroundings 24/7."]

["However, despite using the most advanced equipment for detecting invisible entities, we couldn't find any sign of the 'It's Time Bird' lurking around Charles or anything else."]

["The only thing we could do was continue protecting Charles, hoping to figure out what was really going on."]

["One night, an abnormality finally occurred. Late at night, after Charles finished work and was on his way home, he suddenly told the agents that he could no longer hear the rhythmic clicking sound. He asked the agents if this meant there was nothing to worry about."]

["The agents found this quite strange. Before they could respond, Charles's expression suddenly turned into one of sheer terror. He seemed to have seen something utterly horrifying and started pointing in a specific direction, mumbling nonstop."]

["'Monster! Monster! What is that?!'"]

["Charles was terrified, staring in that direction and repeatedly muttering the word 'monster,' while stepping backward in fear."]

["'Calm down! What kind of monster is it?!'"]

["One of the agents immediately asked Charles for a description of the creature."]

["'It's like a bird with its skin peeled off... tall... strong... Ahhhhhh!!!'"]

["As Charles described it, he suddenly let out a scream and started running backward frantically, as if being chased by something."]

["The agents had no idea what was happening, but they could only chase after him. They had already scanned the surroundings with their equipment, yet there was absolutely nothing in the area."]

["So what exactly did Charles see?"]

["With that doubt in mind, the SCP agents quickly pursued Charles, only to see him suddenly get knocked to the ground by an invisible force. His body trembled as though he was being severely beaten, blood spurting from his mouth."]

["Not only that, but something unseen was tearing at his flesh. His skin and muscle were being ripped apart, and even his limbs were being violently pulled."]

["'Open fire!']

["Seeing this, the SCP agents had no doubt that something was attacking Charles, so they immediately opened fire toward the area above him, hoping to hit whatever it was."]

["Yet strangely, no matter how they fired, nothing seemed to be hit. The bullets passed through the air just half a meter above Charles, yet he continued to be savagely beaten and ripped apart by some unseen force."]

["This was incredibly bizarre. Could their adversary be a ghost immune to bullets?"]

["'Aaaaaaahhhh!!!'"]

["At that moment, Charles let out an absolutely chilling scream. His upper body was being forcibly torn apart, his intestines, stomach, kidneys, and various organs spilling out, being violently yanked from his body."]

["The scene was gruesome, enough to make anyone watching feel nauseous."]

["Soon after, Charles's upper body was dragged away, while chunks of flesh were continuously stripped from him."]

["The SCP agents immediately fired at the location where his upper body was taken, but their bullets hit nothing."]

["At this point, they suspected it was the work of a ghost. One of the agents quickly pulled out an electromagnetic pulse emitter and fired an energy beam at the area where Charles's body was being dragged."]

["However, even this weapon designed to counter spectral entities had no effect. It couldn't hit or expose whatever was attacking Charles."]

["The SCP agents could only watch helplessly as Charles was brutally killed, his upper body disappearing into the darkness."]

["This tragedy forced the higher-ups of the SCP Foundation to take the phenomenon seriously. They suspected something far more bizarre was at play and decided to deploy more personnel to uncover the truth."]

["Eventually, the SCP Foundation discovered something strange. At the exact moment of Charles's death, the 'It's Time Bird' was making eating motions. Even though no one had fed it, and according to recorded footage, the bird had been making intense movements before that."]

["However, due to being tightly restrained by special iron chains, it couldn't perform any clear actions. After carefully analyzing the footage, experts concluded that the 'It's Time Bird' had been making movements resembling physical assault."]

["This was perplexing. Why would the 'It's Time Bird' make such actions when it was alone and had no food? Could it have simply been bored?"]

["More importantly, it made those exact movements at the same time Charles was being attacked and killed. Charles was indeed being beaten at that moment, so why did the 'It's Time Bird' just happen to be mimicking such actions? Was this a coincidence?"]

["With so many uncanny coincidences, the SCP Foundation had an ominous feeling. They decided to reinvestigate the 'It's Time Bird' thoroughly. After extensive observation, they made a shocking discovery."]

["The 'It's Time Bird' did not need to hunt physically. It could project its consciousness outside its body to seek prey and hunt remotely. Its spiritual projection would consume the prey, and whatever it consumed would be transmitted back to its physical body."]

["Charles had seen the 'It's Time Bird's' spiritual projection. As for why he was the only one who could see it, it was likely because the bird had chosen to reveal itself to him. This also explained why the SCP agents couldn't detect anything around Charles. It wasn't invisibility—it was an unseen spirit entity."]

["With this discovery, the SCP Foundation realized the gravity of the situation. This meant that even if they kept the 'It's Time Bird' completely restrained, it would still be able to harm humans."]

["To put an end to the threat once and for all, the SCP Foundation ordered its immediate termination."]

["Though the 'It's Time Bird' had incredibly tough bones and skin, capable of withstanding light firearms, a high-caliber sniper rifle was able to pierce its skull and kill it."]

["With the 'It's Time Bird' eliminated, the SCP Foundation believed the threat had been neutralized and considered the matter closed."]

["However, when new victims began appearing, along with reports of additional sightings of the 'It's Time Bird,' the SCP Foundation realized that there wasn't just one of these creatures."]

["The 'It's Time Bird' was an entire species. But they weren't simply adept at hiding—it wasn't just a matter of physical concealment. They never even needed to expose their physical bodies at all."]
