Song Rong and Ya Ying's phone call was extraordinarily long, for the most part Ya Ying ranted and cursed on the phone, while Song Rong quietly listened, occasionally offering a word or two of advice. Two hours later, their brief chat came to an end.
In the dormitory, Song Rong hung up the phone, picked up the kettle intending to pour herself a glass of water, only to find the kettle was empty.
The conditions in the Northwest were not as good, with the washrooms outside, quite reminiscent of the high school dormitory life, the only difference being Song Rong enjoyed what might be considered teacher's accommodations, a single room for one person.
Holding the kettle, Song Rong went outside to get water. On the corridor, there were a couple of people on the phone, who greeted her upon seeing her, "Teacher Song, you haven't gone to bed yet?"
"I was about to," Song Rong replied with a gentle voice.
