Bang....Bang...
Sound of a gun fire echoed in the air.....
Alec. Abruptly woke up in the middle of the night, the storm raging outside as the heavy rain came from all sides of direction. Sweat dripped from the corners of his head and neck, he stared at the empty space next to him, it felt colder than the weather itself outside. Running his fingers in his moist messy damp hair, a sigh of irritation escaped his slightly parted lips.
A slight quiet knock echoed inside his dim room, Alec switched on the lights as he said.
" Enter."
The bed room door opened and a little voice spoke.
" Daddy, I'm scared."
Eli stood in her white pajamas hugging onto her brown teddy so tightly, her long brown smooth hair tied in two braids...her skin white and slightly pale to the touch, she looks exactly like her.
" you can sleep here tonight... just because the storm is raging, you're a big girl Eli."
" I'm only 6... I'm practically still a baby."
" I want you to be a brave big baby." He told her.
" Yes... Sir."
Eli went to sleep on the empty space. " Good night Daddy."
" Good night princess."
He covered her up and a good night kiss on the forehead.
...
The next morning...
Alec left for work quite early as usual.
" Ms Eli, your bath is ready." Her Nanny said.
" I told you to call me Lady Eli... Claudia."
Eli puffs her cheeks. Claudia giggles correcting herself.
" Right... right, lady Eli...now take your bath or you'll be late for school."
Eli nodded taking off her pajamas and dipped herself in the bathtub filled with water.
" You don't think daddy forgot what day it is today right?."
" And what day is it today?."
Eli's little face saddened and she stared down all sad and gloomy.
" It's mommy's death anniversary, it's been exact five years...two weeks...3 days and 24 hours, 10 minutes and 5 seconds. Daddy didn't say a word of us visiting her grave today so I figured he's forgotten what day it is today."
Claudia lifted her little chin so she was looking at her in the eyes.
" Your father would never forget such an important day like today, he loves your mother way to much to forget... And I must hand it to you Eli, you really do know your math...I couldn't keep up."
Eli smiled proudly, of course she was good with numbers and all, her teachers says she's the smartest of all.
NEW YORK MAXIMUM WOMEN PRISON...
Two officers escorted a woman into the visitors private booth, she was dressed in a white garment called the Anti-violence gown, it restricted her from self harm or harming others.
" Excuse me officer, why is she dressed in that?." Lisa asked
" She attacked an inmate and almost killed her Ms, this is for your own protection." He told her. Lisa turned to look at Laura sitting on the opposite side, smiling at her with those blank brown eyes that showed no regret nor sympathy, she had completely lost her mind.
" You came to visit me mother, I would hug you but....you know how it is, they've restricted my arms."
Laura simply said, everything she said sounded casual that it made Lisa wonder.
" Does this look normal to you Laura, do you not feel regret on what you did five years ago?."
" Come on mother, you only came to pay me a visit for the first time in five years and you want to talk about that? Instead tell me how my husband and daughter are doing, when will they visit me?."
Laura excitedly asked about Alec and Eli, they're the only two she thinks about while trying to survive in this hell hole.
" You don't have a husband nor daughter, Laura."
" Of course I do, Alec is my husband... and Eli is my daughter, Emma was only a pretender and I got rid of her... now that she's long gone we could be a real family again, once I get out of here."
" You won't be getting out Laura! Don't you see... you murdered someone...you killed Emma, you're here for life. You will die here alone with no one by your side, your parents disowned you...you have no one absolutely no one."
Laura acted aggressively trying to get her hands free but the gown held her back.
" I will get out of here and I will come after you and everyone else who tries to get in my way and my family. Mark my words Lisa."
" Get her out of here."
The officer in charge ordered.
" I'm coming for you mother, expect me soon enough...haahaaha!."
Laura kept laughing and yelling as they took her away. Lisa sat there in shock and weakly, she couldn't stand staying there another second later. Grabbing her hand bag she left the place.
Z.N GROUP....
" Mr Qinn, your 10 am meeting has began... everyone's waiting."
Alec's secretary informed, despite working for Alec for a couple of years now he still trembled at the sight of him, he's heard rumors around that he fired his female secretary and switched to a male secretary after his wife passed away. I guess he didn't want to be surrounded by any females, that's how much he respected his late wife.
" Gabriel." Alec calmly called out his name.
" Ahm, yes Sir."
" Cancel it...or move it to another day."
" But sir-
Alec eyed at him coldly, he gulped nothing but air nodding at immediate.
" Yes sir, excuse me." He opened and closed the door behind him. Alec checked his watch, he stood straightened his suit and neck tie, picked up his phone as he stepped out of his office.
The receptionist bowed slightly so did the other employees who crossed him. They knew their boss was cold before, but he's coldness has worsened after the loss of his wife,... and because of her death he's become nothing but an empty shell...a shell that can never be filled up by anyone else other than Emma Rose Anderson.
Eli was excited to see a black Benz pull up at her school, it was her Daddy's car cause only his cars has the unique number plate titled ' Qinn ' She ran towards the car as the driver stepped out to open the back door seat for her.
" Daddy!."
" Princess." Alec smiled. Eli was the only girl he smiled to and laughed with, she is the ray of hope and light that keeps him clinging onto life it self.
" Are we going to visit mommy now?."
" Hm, I feel like we've kept her waiting."
Alec simply smiled at his daughter. " I see you bought her favorite flowers, she'll definitely be happy with them...they look so pretty."
" Indeed, she was obsessed with them."
Alec said remembering how Emma used to smile whenever he got her the flowers.
The car stopped at the family grave yard, only family members and close relatives were buried here.
Eli carried the bouquet of flowers as she walked beside Alec, they spotted another person standing in front of Emma's grave. Eli's smile widened seeing the person.
" Aunt Ava."!
Ava tilted her head to the side and saw a little girl running her way with a bouquet of flowers. Ava chuckled getting on one knee and opened her arms wide for an incoming embrace.
" Aunt Ava ."
" Heyyy... you've grown quite tall little lady." Eli giggled.
" Did you come to visit mommy too?."
" I did... figured she must have missed me."
She teased patting her little head.
" Avaline." Alec gave a slight nod.
" Alec.... Have you been well?."
" Indeed, I presume you have been too?."
" Indeed." She nodded.
" And Zain?." Alec asked not spotting him anywhere to be seen.
" He's in the back, gave me some space to say hello to my sister."
Eli laid down the white lilies on Emma's grave, placing her hand on her tomb stone.
" I miss you mommy, look...Daddy brought your favorite flowers, don't they look pretty? Just like you. I hope you're happy in heaven... and that you continue looking after us, take care...I love you."
She blew a kiss. " We will be at the back " Ava took Eli with her. The place was quiet and cold as it is, it became more quiet and chilly when those two left... Leaving him there staring at the grave stone so blankly, he stared at the clear blue sky... lots of things going through his mind.
" Why?."
A sudden word escaped his lips as he still stared up to the sky.
