That was what the exposed eye from the broken goggles seemed to say to Daemon, and then…
*Bang* *BOOM*
As Daemon kept his back against the wall, he felt the shock from the explosion in the elevator into which he had kicked the suicide bomber who had wanted to take him along for the ultimate ride.
Maybe it was because that was the last operative alive. Maybe that was why such a drastic measure had been taken.
Daemon moved out of his cover, and looked at the dark maw the elevator had become, before he turned around, and he walked away.
Forty-three elite operatives. He doubted there would be any more force available, so now he could move to his destination. His steps rang as the only subtle echo remaining amidst the silent graveyard of warm bodies and blood. He took a cleaner path, and moved up. Step by step, taking the time to regulate his breath, he closed in to the last checkpoint of his nightly visit.
