"Dad! My fishes are dead."
The exclamation in a sharp juvenile voice was met with a calm answer in a deep voice:
"That means you have not done well enough. Use the time you will spend with your godparents to further your research on how to take care of them. After that, try again."
"Oh…"
The sound Jason let carried depression, as he looked at the new aquarium with sadness. The environment inside was still beautiful, but it was mirroring his depression, with life not teeming inside anymore.
The aquarium was right beside the stairs. Seeing Jason sad as she walked down, Evelyn came over and ruffled his hair. She looked at the lifeless interior of the aquarium, and comforted her son with a gentle smile:
"Don't worry, sweetie. Just make sure to do better next time. However, fishes are also living beings, so be careful, and try not to be wasteful."
The words made Jason chase away his sadness and look up at his mother with a cheerful smile:
