The Death Reapers sealed by the Hourglass will patrol vigilantly, redirecting any souls that try to escape to the Dream Realm before the end of their seven-day period, or attempting to recapture those that have already fled.
In other words, if the deceased wishes to avoid allegiance to any Pillar God or Celestial Marshal, aiming to become an independent Phantom Demon of the Dream Realm or even ascend to become a Celestial Marshal, they must first elude these Death Reapers—they are considered envoys of Amber in terms of power, but in reality, they are elevated by the Hourglass using the power of Amber, making them also the envoys of Balance.
Of course, resurrection of the dead is taboo, which equates to stealing food from the mouths of the Pillar Gods and Celestial Marshals. Even an ordinary soul that no one cares about could provoke hostility from the Hourglass if one attempts to resurrect it, due to the breaking of the rules.
