Chapter 38 - A slow day

"Come out."

A couple of moments after Hansen called out, Della walked out from behind the tree. It seemed that she just hid there instead of running.

Hansen looked at Della's sullen face as she looked at him and tilted his head.

"I think I know you."

"...."

When he got no answer from her, Hansen frowned and thought hard for a moment before he eased his frown.

"You, you're Quackmore's daughter, aren't you?"

"...."

"Yes, I remember seeing you when you were younger."

"...."

As Della just continued looking at Hansen with an expressionless face, Hansen asked

"Are you not going to say anything?"

"...What is there to say, Your Highness?"

"I don't know what you're trying to do, but mingling with pirates is not going to end well for you."

"Duly noted, Your Highness. Well then."

Watching Della give him an exaggerated bow, Hansen frowned for a moment before saying,

"If you want, I can help you out. I've known your father since I was young, he would definitely not want his daughter becoming a pirate of all things."

Della widened her eyes as if she had heard the most ridiculous thing before her face hardened.

"Do you even know where he is or how he is right now?"

"I do not. Not since he refused His Majesty's grace."

"Grace? Hah! Don't make me laugh! That was not 'grace'! You should know it too! Are you truly this ignorant or just pretending?!"

"...."

"Do you even know why you're out here?"

"Yes, the knights are in need of new weapons."

Della started laughing as if she heard a really funny joke. An action that did not sit well with Hansen. Before he could say anything though, Della said,

"You should know that we have enough for that back on the island. What you're trying to get is far stronger than steel and frankly would just be wasted if you used it to make weapons for idiots like these guys."

When Della finished speaking and pointed at the Fatare knights that were nearby, they got angry and started hurling insults towards her.

As Della ignored the Fatare knights and glared at Hansen, he just met her glare. Letting out a scoff, Della said,

"It must feel great to live while acting blind, Your Highness. But remember that it has a price."

"...."

"Finally, this is sincere advice. Just stay on this island and don't think about going back. Someone will probably come to pick you up eventually after everything settles down anyway."

"...What do you mean by everything settling down? What are you planning to do?"

"That is none of your concern. Well then."

Letting out another exaggerated bow, Della turned around and left as Hansen watched her disappear.

"Do you want us to teach her a lesson?"

Looking to the side, Hansen saw all of the knights looking at him. Shaking his head, he said,

"No need, how's the cooking coming along?"

"We think it's almost done. Wanna come take a look?"

Nodding his head, Hansen got up and walked over to the small campsite while pondering about what Della said, completely forgetting about the food show host who normally shows up around this time.

The food show host, Jerry, was a little distance away from the Fatare knights, hiding behind a tree alongside Yuuki.

Throwing a look at Jerry, who had a surprised expression, Yuuki looked at the group that was getting ready to eat and picked up the lunch box they brought over.

"Are we going now?"

"What are you talking about, Yuuki-san?"

"Goint to eat in front of them? I don't know what you enjoy about that, honestly."

"That doesn't matter anymore, Yuuki-san. Did you hear what they talked about?"

"Well, not everything. My ears are not as good as yours."

When Yuuki said that, Jerry looked at him with an excited expression and said,

"Della-san called Hansen 'Your Highness'!"

"Ooh. Well, he does act like he has a stick up his ass all the time."

"Stick up his ass? Never mind, this is very important information! We're going back!"

As soon as he said that, Jerry started running back to their ship. Picking up the big lunch box, Yuuki tried to follow him, but he could not keep up and arrived later.

When he got onto their ship, he saw that Jerry was talking very animatedly to Tom. Throwing them a final look, Yuuki took the lunchbox and walked into the captain's cabin, which was just a kitchen/dining hall at this point.

Laying down the lunchbox on the table, he started eating slowly. After eating enough, Yuuki closed up the lunchbox and left the dining hall.

When he got onto the deck, he noticed that Tom wasn't in his usual place, the beach chair, taking a nap.

Looking around him, Yuuki walked up to the chair and laid down on it. As soon as he did that, he widened his eyes.

'Oh my god!'

With a blissful expression on his face, Yuuki drifted away to dreamland.
