Felicity had to change out of her usual short skirt and heels attire and rummage through her belongings to find a tracksuit. She also switched into a pair of hiking boots.
But no matter how Thea looked at this outfit, it was clearly showing its age. It was definitely a style from ten years ago. She was tempted to ask her to change into something else to uphold the reputation of Starling City, but seeing Selina checking the time frequently, she let it go. Hopefully, the people of Gotham were too preoccupied with their own troubles to pay attention to the fashion tastes of their sister city.
The three of them arrived at Thea's private helipad at the Queen mansion with their bags. Most of the equipment belonged to Thea, with hundreds of arrows and hundreds of different arrowheads, along with various knives, daggers, and throwing knives.
They had confiscated two handguns a few days ago, and each of them took one. Although Thea hadn't specifically trained in firearms, with her proficiency in archery, her firearm skills were not inferior to those of an ordinary police officer, and may even surpass them.
As for Felicity, the only requirement for her was to protect herself and avoid hitting their own team members.
"What are you doing, Thea?" Moira asked when heard that Thea had requisitioned a helicopter in such a hurry and didn't know where she was going. She wasn't used to Thea's impromptu lifestyle and hurriedly came from her office.
"Um, we're going to Malibu Beach." Thea said, still hugging Felicity and Selina's waist, giving a bright smile.
Thea and Felicity had hugged and embraced each other countless times before, so there was nothing unusual about it. But it was the first time Selina had been hugged by another woman like this, and her waist was somewhat sensitive. She couldn't help but shiver unconsciously but managed to endure it, forcing a smile that looked awkward.
Moira knew Felicity, although they had never spoken, she knew she was an employee of the company and a good friend of her daughter. However, this was the first time she had seen Selina, and she couldn't help but feel that although this woman was very beautiful and had a great figure, there was a hint of wildness in her eyes, and she felt that it was dangerous for her daughter to be with her.
But seeing the three of them standing together intimately, she didn't say anything, just asked them to call to let her know when they arrived.
As an experienced person, having seen a lot of things, Moira had noticed her daughter's unusual behavior earlier, but there wasn't much she could do to stop it.
She contacted Malcolm to get his opinion. Initially, he was a bit surprised by this orientation, but upon further consideration, he realized it wasn't such a big deal. Compared to her daughter lying in a man's arms, finding a woman was something he could accept.
In this world, 99% of fathers are dissatisfied with their daughters' boyfriends. They always feel a sense of loss when their own daughters end up in another man's arms, akin to their prized cabbage being stolen by a pig. Some express their displeasure more strongly, while others are more subdued, but none are happy about it!
Malcolm's current mindset was to let things take their course. If it was a woman, it was okay, but if it was a man, he would kill him directly if he found out. Of course, his daughter wouldn't find anyone, it's best if she stayed eighteen forever.
Thea didn't know that her parents were so worried about her lifelong decision. She arranged for Selina to pilot the helicopter in front since she was leading the way. If they went in the wrong direction, at least she could relax a bit.
Sitting in the back seat, she watched as Felicity hacked into the Gotham City Police Department's firewall. It was indeed a large city with millions of people, and it took Felicity ten minutes to pull up the target for this mission.
After a quick glance, Thea realized that she had quite a few targets to deal with. Scarecrow, Riddler, and Penguin were all on the loose.
She specifically searched for any news about Poison Ivy but found nothing. Could it be that she hadn't made her move on Gotham during this timeframe? That would be good news. As long as there were no metahumans involved, she could handle the difficulty of the mission with her skills and equipment and still make it out alive. Escaping unscathed was still possible.
"Get ready, we're almost there," Selina shouted from the pilot seat. Through the helicopter's glass, Thea saw the distant skyline of Gotham. The whole city was dark, as if a dark cloud was hanging over it, with flashes of fire seen intermittently on the streets.
The city's founders must have chosen the location for some reason, Thea thought, feeling that the environment here was extremely poor. Using the natural perception method taught by Shiva, she probed around and sensed an atmosphere of restlessness, decay, and desolation hanging in the air.
According to Selina, even without the current events, Gotham saw deaths every day, but no one bothered to keep track, and no one cared. Thea couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if a necromancer showed up. Without needing any elaborate ritual, they could probably summon hundreds of thousands of skeleton soldiers with just a few calls, maybe even a few hundred death knights.
If Starling City was like an old man riddled with illness, then Gotham is like a robust man on his deathbed. It's hard to say which city is worse off.
As the helicopter approached, Thea could already see the chaos on the streets and between the buildings. Everywhere she looked, there were robberies, murders, women screaming, and children crying, their voices lingering in the air. Elderly people were being pushed to the ground, struggling just to take a few dollars from them. The city was slowly heading towards the brink of collapse.
Feeling saddened by Batman's years of efforts going to waste, , Thea couldn't help but wonder why she shouldn't help these unfortunate people now that she had some abilities herself. She wasn't sure if this was what it meant to be a hero, but she knew she had to do something. If she had initially come here with the intention of just messing around, now she had decided to punish these thugs.
Idealism was beautiful, but reality was brutal. Just as she was about to descend and take action, she realized that the helicopter had been circling in the sky the whole time.
She asked Selina sharply, "Why aren't we landing? How many people die every minute you delay? You're really not in a hurry!"
Selina was even more frustrated than her. "How can I not be anxious? You tell me where to land in this chaos!"
Before she could finish her sentence, someone on the ground started firing bullets at the helicopter. How could they possibly hit from such a height? Even if they did, it wouldn't do any damage. Clearly, the bullets were fired in vain.
Thea looked around and indeed, things were chaotic. The weather wasn't helping either. Gotham's weather had never been good, with cloudy skies throughout the year. Just as she was preparing to focus and find a suitable landing spot, she caught sight of a bald, burly man with a rocket launcher charging towards them.
Thea was stunned. "Oh no, pull up, quickly!"
Selina's reaction was swift, and coupled with the helicopter's excellent performance, the rocket missile narrowly missed the bottom of the aircraft.
"Phew," the three of them breathed a sigh of relief in unison.
