I woke up and it seems it was around 7:45 am, 15 minutes before the breakfast. There seems to be warm water and a towel placed here to wash myself. Since this is like a medieval like civilization, personal baths are for wealthy people or nobles. I rinsed my body and put on my clothes and went downstairs for breakfast.
The breakfast is pretty simple. Ham, bread, soup, and vegetable salad. Nothing special about it. It's still one more hour before the library opens, so i think its better to have a morning stroll around town.
I finished my breakfast and started walking around town for some exercise. I went by some few stalls and bought some meat skewers along with a fruit juice that was sweet.
Before I knew it, an hour had already passed. I decided to head to the library. I walked for a few minutes in the main road then found a big building. The signboard says Roste Library, so I went inside. Inside, loads of books and shelves are in every nook and cranny of the Library. I then talked to the Librarian if I could read some books related to Magic Introduction.
"We have some in the Magic section. It's two rows on your left side."
"Thank you."
I headed to the second row from the librarian's desk and started looking for it. After a few minutes, I got three books, around 50 pages each, and start reading them.
Summarizing the three books, I learned that to be able to use magic, you need to feel the mana first before doing the next process, which is visualizing the magic you want to use.
There are several types of magic. Elemental Magic, Spirit Magic, Enchant Magic, Support Magic, Taming Magic are among them.
Elemental magic is a magic that uses elements in this world like fire, water, earth, stuff like that.
Spirit Magic is the same as Elemental magic but there is a different process between them. Spirit Magic uses the power of a "spirit" to invoke magic.
Enchant magic can be used to enchant weapons and armor, giving them boost to your power. Enchant Magic can also be used in making magic tools, which is like electronics in my original world.
Support Magic can be used to provide buffs or support to yourself or others. Stuff like [Heal], [Bind], or [Boost] are included in this type of magic.
Last is Taming Magic. You can be able to tame monsters as long as you met the requirements for taming that monster.
When I finished reading the three books, I put them back in place and when I went outside the library, the sun was already at the peak. I decided to find some restaurants nearby since all that reading made me hungry. I decided to go to a restaurant and eat some decent foods.
After that, I decided to go to the Adventurer's Guild to accept requests.
"Oh! Sir Artorius! Welcome back! Here to do another request?"
"Yes. I can do E-rank request now, right?"
"Yes. Since you become E-rank, you can accept E-rank request. Please head to the E-rank request board."
"Thank you."
I then headed to the E-rank request board. Hmm... Glowshrooms, Goblin Extermination, Fang Rabbits. The rewards are pretty good too. I'll accept the Glowshroom and Goblin Extermination request then.
"Miss Sistina, these two are also repeat quests, right?"
"Yes. That's the case."
"Thank you. I'll head out now."
"Be careful, Sir Artorius."
I walked away and headed to the North Gate. The forest is around a 20 minute walk from the North Gate. I arrived at the forest after 20 minutes and activated my [Appraisal] to start finding the mushrooms.
After a few minutes, i found a cluster of 4 Glowshrooms and picked it up. [Appraisal] is very handy in this kind of situation.
Time passed and before I knew it, an hour had already passed. I found around 52 more Glowshrooms during that time. It was only around two hours after noon so I still have a lot of time so I decided to applying magic according to what I read.
"So first, I should feel the mana first. But how on earth would I feel it? Should I meditate? And there was a special invisible mana that stores mana called "Mana Heart". I should feel my Mana Heart first to see what it feels like."
I sat down and closed my eyes. I didn't feel anything at first but after a while, I felt something warm in my chest. That should be the Mana Heart. I tried circulating that feeling around my body and my whole body is covered with warmness. When I opened my eyes, my body was giving a sort of glow.
Now, for learning my first attack magic, it says that I should concentrate my magic on my hand and imagine what element you should use. Since I'm in a forest, fire magic is a no go so water would be a good choice.
I closed my eyes and I concentrated the flow of mana to my hands. I imagined a ball of water materializing to my hands. I opened my eyes and see a ball of water floating in my hand. For firing it, I should release a set amount of mana from my hands so I did that and fired at a tree. It was a successful one but the firepower is quite weak, just made a little dent on the tree.
"Hmmm... If imagination is a key for mastering magic... Should I make the water shaped like a blade?"
I tried that method. Imagining a water ball once more, but making it as thin as a blade when firing it. The damage much better than the water ball, but it felt like a lot of mana was used in that spell. If I used a lot of mana in a spell, then it will become more powerful. It's the same as those in the fantasy comics I've read.
Speaking of comics, I think there's also a support spell called "Body Strengthening". I tried covering my body with mana and started running. My speed reached by around 20% overall. This is convenient in close quarters combat too.
"Notice: New Adventure Mission."
Hm? Travy gave me a new mission. Let me see...
Mission Name: Goblin Slayer
Mission: Kill 30 goblins
Reward:
75 Adventure Experience
Goblin's Armband: Rarity: (N)
Why the heck does the mission sounds like from the series I watched... Hm? A new equipment sounds nice. I guess I should start finding goblins now.
After a few minutes, I successfully found one.
I sneaked behind it's back and fired [Water Blade]. It made the goblin gush a lot of blood. It died due to blood loss.
It was very gruesome to be honest. I almost puked since the stench of its blood was down right horrendous. I sliced it's ears for the proof of the request then find another goblin.
After a few minutes, I found three goblins. I fired [Water Blade] on one of the goblin's neck, killing it in one blow. I used [Body Strengthening] to immediately strike another goblin. The last goblin went to strike me with it's sharp nails and it managed to scratch my arm but I managed to counterattack, also killing him.
I cut their ears as usual and I continue my hunt. Before I knew it, I killed around 33 goblins in two hours. Travy's voice popped out.
"Mission Completed.
Rewards:
75 Adventure Experience
Goblin's Armband
I checked what the stats of this armband was.
Goblin's Armband: Rarity: N
Strength: +2, Agility: +1
Passive: 10% more [Status] Level Experience when defeating any types of goblins.
I guess its good enough. It's the same as the Slime Ring where it gives bonus experience when i kill slimes. I guess I should go back now. Hm? I forgot I have a wound. There's this magic called Heal, right? I wonder if the casting it uses the same imagination as a normal attack spells.
I tried it. I put my hands on my left arm and started imagining closing the wound. A small ball of light appeared and felt a warm feeling on my arm. Soon, the wounds closed up. Nice.
I then headed back to the entrance of the forest and went back to Roste. A different guard checked my Card.
"You may pass now, young man."
"Thank you."
I went to the Adventurer's Guild after that.
