Chapter 143 - Chapter 142 A Quick Trip

The continent of Guiltina was peaceful in the morning. Everyone was going about their lives while the leaders of the continent were in charge of monitoring the dragon gods present within their home.

This monitoring was not done to stop these dragons when they wake up, as they knew for a fact that they would be unable to stop them by any means. Even though the apocalypse dragon reigned supreme as the strongest and most unstoppable dragon, the dragon gods themselves were feared by many. At least Acknalogia had a habit of appearing only in regions of conflict where the concentration of ethernano reached an all-time high. But the dragon gods had no such condition; they could appear whenever they wanted and kill whoever they wished to kill.

The monitoring was done for one reason alone: to inform the council in their continent to evacuate as many people as possible to other continents. As for fighting the dragons…

Anyway, moving on.

Just like this, a soldier was looking at Aldoron, the wood dragon god, through a telescope and making sure that it was still the same. The wood dragon was the biggest among all the dragon gods, with a size large enough to accommodate large cities with many people in them. These cities, in turn, were recorded to have zero criminal activity—which would have been great for advertisement, if not for the horrific truth that deterred anyone from coming closer.

The entire population in Aldoron was made up of fake humans created by the dragon in its unconscious state. The dragon had only grown them to use as fertilizer to grow stronger when it awakened.

As the soldier was watching the dragon, the mana sensor near him began to beep. With a fearful expression, he checked the machine, only to find that it stopped beeping and went back into rest mode. He checked it as seconds passed into minutes, but there was no further reaction.

He let out a deep sigh of relief.

"Whoa… God, I thought it was over. Need to talk to the technological department to fix this," he said out loud as he began to use a communicator.

At the same time, the individual who had caused the machine to react had already reached dozens of miles further toward his target within those few seconds.

Karna was currently reaching Mach 2 in speed and maintaining it, as he felt he would lose more ethernano than he could replenish if he went any faster. After getting the location of the thunder dragon's supposed grave—lost for centuries—Karna had immediately set out to find it and return before the battle of the Oración Seis started. He didn't want to be late for that battle, as he felt there were many things to discover in the ruins of Nirvana. In the canon, they had destroyed it entirely, but Karna wanted to uncover the core secrets of the weapon for his future battles.

Right now, Karna was about to reach the mountain range specified by Raijin. It had only taken him a few days to reach it after using Incursio, which could currently wield the thunder dragon element completely.

He reached the mountains and began walking toward the caves, aiming for the deep ravine hidden within them. As he walked, he remembered everything that had happened just before he set out on this expedition.

Laxus had woken up from his sleep, and the immediate calmness he showed indicated that he had lost control all these years because of the enchantment placed on him by Ivan. This led to a lot of awkward moments, where Granny and Master blamed themselves for not figuring it out sooner.

But Laxus was actually calm and decided to travel to rest from all the stress he had faced over the years. According to him, he felt like a heavy weight had been removed from his head. He decided to leave immediately, as the other guild members were preparing to beat the crap out of him for the troubles caused the day before.

Yep, that's right. Laxus was still regarded as the one responsible for putting traps throughout the city. The Thunder Legion tried to shift the blame by telling the truth—that it was Karna who did it—and even tried to prove it by pointing out that it was Karna's projection that had announced the entire thing.

Let's just say Laxus's track record of being a brocon worked against him this time.

So Karna made sure to talk with Laxus before both of them went their separate ways.

"Here," Karna said, as he gave Laxus copies of breathing techniques before leaving. Laxus looked inside, and within just a few moments, he realized their significance and how much they could improve his power if he learned them. He closed the book and looked at Karna.

"Sorry about all these years."

"Don't worry about it, all right? It was partly our fault that we never realized it until now. And how have you been doing with Raijin?"

Laxus nodded, as he was able to communicate with Raijin after waking up from the coma. He was going to train his Dragon Slayer magic during his travels.

"All right, make sure to send messages to Gramps regularly, okay?"

"Yeah, I will. But what about you? From what I can see, you must be going somewhere as well. Did you fix that trouble with Cana?" Laxus asked curiously, although he had a small grin on his face.

"Haha," Karna laughed awkwardly as he massaged his shoulder where he'd taken a direct hit from Cana when he told her about his upcoming journey to another continent so soon.

Back to the present.

Karna sighed as he remembered the angry expression Cana had before he ran away in fear.

"Damn it, I need to plan something to calm her down when I return," he muttered to himself as he reached the location he had speculated to exist.

There, right in front of him, a huge pond that shone with a blue hue awaited him. As he had expected, the melted ice had luckily collected itself into one place and had not reached the ocean or any other water source.

He had found the soul of Frostborn—the dragon who was named the Monarch of the Cold.
