The cell phone on the table rang. It was a call from Wang Ningjing.
"Snow, do you have time to meet up this afternoon?"
Despite her best efforts to mask it, Bai Xue could still hear the choking sob in her voice.
"What's wrong, Jing?" Bai Xue asked, furrowing her brow. Jing was a strong woman who seldom cried, and besides, she was now a happily married housewife. What could possibly have upset her so much that she couldn't control her emotions?
"We'll talk when we meet."
Bai Xue cleared her afternoon schedule, and went to meet Wang Ningjing a little past three. They arranged to meet at an afternoon tea shop, a spot known for its delicious treats and quiet ambiance, discovered by foodie Lu Yiyi. It was an excellent meeting place.
By the time she arrived, Lu Yiyi and Wang Ningjing were already there.
Wang Ningjing's eyes were red and swollen.
"What's wrong?" Bai Xue asked, looking at Wang Ningjing's swollen eyes, feeling a pang of sympathy.
