Karyan took a step back from Reverie and burst into laughter, "hahahahha!"
His eyes sparkled with glee as he looked at the scene before him.
"Wow! This couldn't be any better! It's like the universe itself is on my side…"
His heart raced with excitement as the room filled with the sound of his laughter, echoed off the walls.
Karyan's smile grew wider as he thought, "I've got them now. This is perfect!"
His laughter was contagious, spreading through the room and filling it with a mix of thrill. It felt like a moment of victory, and he was going to enjoy every bit of it.
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" Reverie was back to her usual self.
"How did that son of a bitch become a sorcerer, tell me."
"I don't know myself much, but it was something related to the spirit…"
"Well, obviously. But who killed the royal family? Who ended them?"
"Mateo did…"
"He did?"
"I don't know how, and what exactly he do, but he weakened the king some years ago, and then killed his mistress, and the prince…"
"How did Mateo not go to prison?"
"Because they lacked evidence…"
"Bullshit! Tell me the truth!"
"I'm telling you the truth! It's what I heard in a laboratory…"
"Who was this laboratory for?"
"For element wielders…they were trying to break our spirit and commit suicide, but I'm not sure why…?"
"Because to prove yourself to a spirit, one needs to kill one by one, element after element…that's how the spirit works. That's how the first royal family got their hands on it. It connects to your blood afterwards…"
"And how to do that?"
"Well, I explained it to you, are you deaf?"
"No, but it doesn't make any sense, why wouldn't he just kill us instead of making us commit suicide."
"Because he already killed one wielder in public, if he would kill another one, people and the court would make speculations, and the third one…his plans would be ruined. You know how that works yourself."
"But if we would kill ourselves, it wouldn't make any difference to him since he wasn't the one to do it."
"No. You're wrong."
Reverie furrowed her eyebrows, "how am I wrong?"
"Because at the end of the day, he would be the one to torture you and make you kill yourself. Your last thoughts would be of him, of revenge you want to take on him. You would want to cut his throat, crush his skull and do anything possible for him…he would be the reason behind your death."
"But physically, it still wouldn't be him."
"It's the amount of energy that counts. The spirit feeds on the energy, Reverie."
She let out a long sigh, looked at him, then had a quick glance around the bar, "you might be right…"
"I know what I'm talking about…"
"But how did you exactly survive him?"
Karyan turned to Nedeira and gently picked her up, put her on his left shoulder, "I didn't…" he stated, and looking down at his missing right hand, "but this time I will. And I will end him for once and all. We will die together, if needed."
"Are you not some kind of suicidal maniac, are you?"
"No. But I have a feeling that you are…" Karyan turned around and started walking towards the door, "was nice chatting with you, bye."
"What? You're just going to leave me here, alone?"
"Well, you didn't bother introducing yourself properly, and I need to look at Nedeira's wounds. I want to see what your weird bug did to her."
"Hey!" She shouted at him, "Niko is not weird!"
"Sure," he waved his hand and walked out, leaving her standing by herself.
But Reverie couldn't give up, not after she did so much to get there, "this handsome asshole!" She ran after him.
"Hey, don't think you can just leave me like that!"
"What do you want? Get lost," he replied coldly.
"Why should I? I'm the one who fed you with information, why should I not follow you."
"Don't get yourself killed by following me…"
"What?" She mumbled, "I will show you!"
Reverie raised her hand and concentrated on the veins in Karyan's heart. "I've got you now," she said with a smirk as she felt the connection.
Opening her eyes, she could hear his heart beating. "Do you think you can disrespect me like that?" she muttered under her breath.
Moving her hand to the side, she twirled around a little and formed an invisible ball with her hands. She then clenched her fist, causing Karyan to gasp in pain and fall to his knees.
Confused and in agony, Karyan's eyes widened as he struggled to comprehend what was happening to his body.
As his blood began to heat up from within, he heard Lanta's voice in his head, urgently warning him about his heart. "Karyan, your heart!" she called out.
Turning around, Karyan saw Reverie smiling wickedly at him.
"What did you do to me?!" He forced his words.
"Something, something that is probably beyond your understanding, snake…" she smirked.
But as she thought she was going to win, Sin landed from above, "shadow's curse." He muttered and looked into her eyes.
Reverie's hand fell down, but so did her body, making her lose focus of her trick.
"You can't hurt him here, I'm sorry," Sin made a statement.
