Chapter 182 - It’s not Me this Time

I had a bad feeling a few months back that someone was targeting me PR-wise. I was half right. It turns out I wasn't the one being targeted—it was Margot. I began noticing this anti-Margot sentiment among my fanbase for some reason. Of course, there were always a few crazy fangirls who disliked her simply because she was my girlfriend, but this time it felt like there was a genuine campaign against our relationship.

Rumors started popping up about me cheating on her and, more often, her cheating on me. At first, it was confined to the darker corners of the internet, but in the last three weeks, the whole thing exploded—like someone had decided it was time to set off the bomb.

"You were right. This movie was a bad idea," Margot groaned, her voice muffled as she buried her face in a pillow on the couch.

I sat in a nearby armchair, watching her with mild concern. It had been a rough few weeks, and I couldn't blame her for feeling this way.

"Come on, Mags," I said, leaning forward. "You're being too pessimistic. Nothing's—"

"Nothing's gone wrong?" she interrupted, still not looking up. "Really? You think I can't read? I didn't do anything wrong, and these people are writing about me like I'm the worst person on the planet."

She wasn't wrong. The tabloids had been relentless. I glanced at the papers her publicist had sent over—pages filled with hit pieces, each more ridiculous than the last.

Margot Robbie: Diva on Set?

(Hollywood Buzz - Entertainment News)

Margot Robbie, star of the award-winning movie Bonnie & Clyde, might be letting her newfound fame get to her head. According to exclusive sources from the set of the upcoming Tarzan, the actress has been acting like a full-fledged diva—despite being a newcomer.

"She's constantly showing up late, making crew members wait," one anonymous crew member told us. "She acts like she's the biggest name on set."

Another source added:

"She barely interacts with anyone outside of filming. It's like she thinks she's above everyone else."

Some are comparing her to past Hollywood starlets who burned too bright, too fast. Is Margot Robbie becoming too big of a star too soon?

I looked over at the next headline—this one made me even angrier because it was about our relationship.

Margot Robbie Spotted Getting Cozy with Co-Star Alexander Skarsgård

(Hollywood Insider – Breaking News!)

Is it over for Daniel Adler and Margot Robbie?

Sources close to the set of Tarzan have revealed that Margot Robbie has been spending a lot of time with her co-star, Alexander Skarsgård. The two, who play the iconic Jane and Tarzan in the upcoming movie, have reportedly been seen dining together at multiple restaurants in London while filming.

Just last week, the pair were spotted at an upscale Italian eatery, laughing and sharing what seemed like a very intimate conversation over wine. A source inside the restaurant claims:

"They looked really comfortable with each other. Margot was smiling the whole time, and at one point, Alexander leaned in really close. If I didn't know she had a boyfriend, I would have thought they were a couple."

While co-stars often spend time together during filming, insiders say Margot and Alexander's off-set relationship has been raising eyebrows.

"They have incredible chemistry on set, but it doesn't stop there," an anonymous crew member dished. "Whenever they're not filming, they're always together. Dinner, workouts, even late-night drinks."

This has, of course, sparked rumors that Margot may be getting a little too close to her leading man—especially given her long-term relationship with Daniel Adler.

So, what does this mean for Adler and Robbie?

Neither Margot nor Daniel has commented on the rumors, but sources close to the couple insist everything is fine. However, fans have noticed that Margot has been suspiciously quiet about her relationship lately—no social media posts, no red-carpet appearances together. And with Daniel currently busy juggling the DC Universe and his own production company, could the distance be taking a toll on their relationship?

"I can't believe you're cheating on me with Skarsgård," I joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"I mean, he's not even the most handsome Skarsgård. Bill, I understand, but Alexander?"

Margot, still lying face down on the couch, groaned and hurled a pillow at me. "Not the time for jokes, Danny!"

Whoever was targeting Margot was good. Really good. They weren't just using traditional tabloids—they were using social media as a weapon.

Fake posts, rumors, and cleverly crafted "anonymous stories" were spreading like wildfire across platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and gossip blogs. And the worst part? The tabloids were picking them up and spinning them into articles as if they were real.

I picked up Margot's iPad and scrolled through some of the posts her publicist had sent her—examples of just how far this smear campaign had gone.

Title: "Who are the best and rudest celebrities you've met?"

One of the top replies by u/Serfe123:

"I work at a country club as a server, and I've met a lot of celebs over the years. I've met the bad ones and the good ones. Recently, I met Daniel Adler, and let me tell you—he is one of the nicest. Super polite, always says please and thank you, and tips REALLY well. Like, insanely well. I still remember one time he gave me a $200 tip on a meal because, in his words, 'I've had a good year.'

But Margot Robbie? His girlfriend? The complete opposite. I've served her a couple of times when she's been with him, and she always makes a face when Daniel gives big tips, like she disapproves or thinks it's stupid. She's never outright rude, but she barely acknowledges the staff. It's like she sees us as beneath her.

I actually feel kinda bad for Daniel. He seems like a genuine guy, and I can't shake the feeling that Margot is just using him to boost her career. She started dating him right before she really blew up. Just my two cents, but something feels off."

The replies under the comment were even worse:

u/Hollywpill: "This tracks. I always felt Margot was like that. She latched onto Daniel when she was still coming up, and now she's showing her true colors."

u/Fif42: "Bro, if these cheating rumors with Skarsgård are true… Daniel deserves better.

"u/Behcenebe: "Not surprised. She is a woman after all. All women are like that…."

I looked at some of the comments—there seemed to be a lot of incels there (if that was even a term being used yet).

"Look, I've asked Raj to help your people with this," I said, trying to sound reassuring.

Margot barely lifted her face from the pillow. She looked miserable.

"You know," she mumbled, "I think it's a jealous actress…"

Margot turned her head slightly, her expression unreadable. "Maybe someone who wanted to be in Tarzan?"

I let out an abrupt laugh. "No, no, I don't think anyone wanted to be in this one."

Margot pouted. "Mean."

I grinned, trying to lighten the mood. "Still a bad movie, Mags."

She huffed, flopping back onto the couch. "Doesn't matter. Everyone thinks I'm a cheating, horrible person." Her voice wavered slightly. "Even your fans hate me. Twitter—even that creepy forum dedicated to you—they're all saying how horrible I am."

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "I think it's best if you stay off social media for a while."

Margot scoffed. "Easier said than done."

I walked over and sat beside her, placing a hand gently on her back. "Listen, it's a very small minority of people who are buying into this crap. The internet is a dumpster fire—one person throws in a match, and suddenly everyone thinks the whole thing's burning down. But it's not. It'll all blow over."

Margot closed her eyes and took a deep breath, but I could still see the frustration on her face. "And what if it doesn't?"

"It will," I assured her. "Raj is already on it, and you know how good he is at this stuff. He's saved my ass from so many stupid situations, I've lost count."

Margot finally cracked a small smile. "Yeah, he has. You do a lot of stupid stuff."

I gasped in faux offense. "Excuse me, I am a responsible adult."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "You just had that thing in New York."

I waved dismissively. "That's beside the point."

Margot sighed again, but this time, the sadness was easing. The frustration was still there, but at least she wasn't spiraling.

"Look," I said, nudging her shoulder, "let's get out of here for a bit. The John Wick party is tonight. Let's go, have some drinks, and forget all about this nonsense for a while."

Margot exhaled, rolling her shoulders before finally sitting up. "Yeah… yeah, I think you're right. Raj is good at his job. He'll figure out who's behind this."

"Damn right he will," I said, standing up.

Margot pushed herself off the couch, stretching before heading toward the bedroom. "Alright, let's go to that party."

As she walked away, I called after her, "Just so we're clear, I was right, and you were wrong about Tarzan…"

A pillow came flying at my face.

.

.

.

We arrived at the party venue, stepping out into a scene of pure extravagance. Margot glanced around, her previous worries momentarily forgotten as she swayed slightly to the beat of the music. I could tell she was finally letting herself relax, even if just for a little while.

Paul met us at the entrance, looking pleased with himself.

I glanced around at the sheer number of people inside. "Paul, who are all these people?"

He grinned. "Maya set it up. Everyone's enjoying themselves, and that's what we want, right?"

John Wick's massive success meant one thing—sequel time. Keanu, Chad, and the entire team were beyond excited to dive into the second film. Luckily, I had already been working on the script for months, so we were ahead of schedule.

Margot and I walked through the party, greeting people as we went.

"Daniel!"

I turned to see Keanu Reeves making his way toward us.

"Keanu," I greeted with a smile. "How's the party treating you?"

"A bit loud for my taste," Keanu admitted with a small smirk before turning to Margot. "By the way, I loved your movie."

Margot beamed. "Thank you! I'm such a big fan—Bill & Ted is one of my favorites."

"You two talk—I'll grab us some drinks."

Leaving them to their conversation, I made my way to the bar. The area was packed with partygoers laughing, flirting, and making connections. Some faces I recognized—industry people. But many were aspiring hopefuls, dressed to impress, looking to network and—if they played their cards right—get noticed.

One of them definitely made herself noticed.

She approached with a confident stride, standing out effortlessly among the crowd. She was tall, her olive skin glowing under the dim ambient lighting, dark wavy hair cascading past her shoulders. She had a striking, symmetrical face—high cheekbones, full lips curved into an easy smile.

I barely had time to react before she was standing next to me, her presence undeniable.

"Well, well," she said, tilting her head as she leaned against the bar. "If it isn't the man of the hour."

"That I am," I said, giving her a polite smile as I reached for my drink.

She smiled back—slow and confident. "It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Adler," she said, twirling the straw in her glass. "Emily." She extended her hand.

I shook it briefly. "Nice to meet you, Emily."

"Oh, the pleasure is all mine," she purred, holding onto my hand a little longer than necessary before letting go.

I could tell where this was going.

"Like I said, I'm a huge fan," she continued, stepping closer, her perfume unmistakable. "Your books, your movies, you—amazing." She trailed a finger along the rim of her glass, her eyes flicking up to meet mine. "It must be tough, especially now… during what should be happy times."

I raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

She gave a dramatic little sigh, swirling her drink. "Come on, Mr. Adler, we all know what's been going on," she said, her voice dripping with faux concern. "We've all heard the rumors about Margot. You don't have to play dumb."

I sighed inwardly.

"I don't really pay attention gossip," I said, keeping my voice even.

Emily tilted her head, feigning innocence. "Maybe you should. I mean, you could do so much better." She reached out, brushing imaginary lint from my shoulder. "Really, Daniel, you deserve someone…"

I was about to politely leave when suddenly—

"Oh, darling," a familiar voice cooed sweetly from behind me.

Margot.

I turned to see her standing there, her expression perfectly composed—all sugar and warmth. She slid up beside me with a radiant smile and placed a hand on my chest. "You were taking too long," she said in a voice just a bit too sweet, completely ignoring Emily's presence. "Keanu's waiting."

"Uh, I was just talking to Emily here," I said, glancing between them.

Margot didn't even look at Emily, as if she were nothing more than background noise. Instead, she plucked one of the drinks from my hand with easy grace—and then, somehow, whoops—it slipped from her fingers, splashing all over Emily's dress.

Emily gasped, her confidence cracking for the first time. "What the hell—"

Margot let out the most insincere little gasp. "Oops!" she said, not looking the least bit sorry. "You really should be more careful."

Emily stood there, stunned, mouth slightly open, her confidence thoroughly shattered.

Margot turned back to me, looping her arm through mine. "Let's go."

I barely managed to smother my smirk as I let her lead me away.

"You know that won't help matters. It's just more fuel to the fire," I said once we were out of earshot.

Margot scoffed. "Fuck that cunt—and the cunt who's making up shit about me."

I chuckled. "Whoa, your Australian's coming out."

She huffed. "Keanu says he knows a great hidden restaurant nearby. Let's go there instead."

I looked at her for a moment, noticing the frustration in her eyes. "Where is this place, anyway?"

We exited the party, heading to this mysterious restaurant. Keanu joined us—it was fun. He had some advice for Margot on dealing with everything, and it seemed to put her mind at ease.

Someone was going out of their way to destroy her reputation.

And sooner or later, I was going to find out who.
