Chapter 267 - Chapter 267: The War Ends, but the Game Begins

Kumogakure, Iwagakure, Kirigakure, Sunagakure, Iron Country and Orochimaru.

Six forces have joined forces to attack Konoha, but the war has come to an end.

This great battle was planned entirely by Funan. Neither Itachi nor Yako participated at all; many things were completely unknown to them.

Without a doubt, the results were tremendously satisfactory.

Funan watched the direction in which the Tsuchikage and the others were escaping, a slight hint of regret in his gaze.

This time, he could have captured them. He was just a little short.

Of course, if he had unleashed his full power, it would have been possible.

So far, the power he has displayed is barely the peak level of a Mangekyo Sharingan, without revealing his Eternal Mangekyo.

Why? Because in the shadows Uchiha Madara still exists.

That man is a mid-plot BOSS! He can't be taken lightly!

At this moment, teams of the Konoha Police Force were escorting the prisoners to the cells, while the ANBU quickly patrolled the corners of the village looking for enemies who might have hidden.

Fugaku looked into the distance with a gloomy face.

Chiyo had escaped.

This made Fugaku very unhappy.

Elsewhere in Konoha, Kakashi and Guy stood shoulder to shoulder, watching Asuma, who was being held back by several jonin. They both sighed helplessly.

Nearby, Hiashi stood with a calm expression, but behind him, a group of captured Hyuga with eyes filled with hatred were staring at him.

Kakashi finally couldn't contain himself and asked, "Hiashi, why?"

In the heat of battle, Hiashi had unexpectedly betrayed his own clan and attacked both his own people and Asuma. He had done so alongside his personal guard, showing no mercy.

That unexpected betrayal was what allowed them to end the battle so quickly.

Furthermore, Hiashi had spoken a secret code set by the Hokage.

Everyone's expressions turned peculiar. Could it be that Hiashi's betrayal was planned by Funan?

"Exactly, it's as you've all already guessed." Hiashi replied calmly. "Many in the main branch of the Hyuga clan were dissatisfied. I informed the Hokage, I have always been his informant in the shadows."

"Hiashi, you damn traitor! You have destroyed the Hyuga clan!"

The captured members of the main branch screamed in rage.

Hiashi ignored them completely and turned to Kakashi: "Don't hurt them."

"What?" Kakashi was stunned.

Hiashi explained: "Hokage-sama said that you will be marked with the Caged Bird Seal and become loyal soldiers of Konoha."

"Oh!" Kakashi understood.

"Don't even think about it!" The members of the main branch went crazy.

Being marked with the seal meant losing their status as clan nobles and becoming slaves.

At this, Hiashi was direct: "If you do not want that, you can always commit suicide and retain your dignity. That is the mercy that Hokage-sama offers you."

The members of the main branch shouted and swore, but no one responded in any concrete way.

Obviously, this is already their answer.

In a corner of the battlefield, Yako adjusted her clothes and elegantly approached Funan.

Behind her, lifeless bodies lay scattered on the ground, and two unconscious people.

"These bodyguards weren't the best. As I understand it, the true guardians of the Kage are those who have a chance of inheriting their title," Yako said.

"Exact!"

Funan commented indifferently, "They were probably assigned an important mission at the border, leading the shinobi troops."

"It's possible," Yako replied with a sudden smile. "Although I have obtained another kind of reward."

She was holding a little girl in her hand.

Kurotsuchi.

"Relax, she's only fifteen, don't you dare think about anything," Yako joked, winking at Funan.

"Aside from this little one, we also have the Kazekage's two sons."

"Where is Gaara?" Funan looked around and didn't find his disciple.

The truth is that Funan was a little worried. He was afraid that Gaara had decided to side with Sunagakure.

He wasn't worried about his opponent's strength; what worried him was that Gaara was his only disciple, someone he had invested a lot of effort into.

"He went to the Suna border," Yako replied with a smile. "Your disciple is loyal to you. As soon as the battle began, he helped Kakashi. And when he discovered that his father was Orochimaru in disguise, he went straight to the Suna border, where he faced the Suna shinobi army alone."

"This kid..." Funan couldn't help but smile.

Although he had different plans for Sunagakure, Gaara's behavior filled him with satisfaction.

Suddenly, a figure descended from the sky.

Pakura appeared in front of Funan and said, "I'm sorry, Funan. That Kimimaro guy managed to escape."

Funan paused before replying, "It doesn't matter. He won't live long. The next time we see him will probably be when the Impure World Reincarnation brings him back."

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Funan felt a gaze fixed on him and turned his head.

Naruto looked at him with a strange expression.

During the recent attack on Konoha, Naruto hadn't done anything relevant; Kakashi had kept him well protected.

"What's wrong with him?" Funan asked.

Yako also looked confused. "I don't know, I'll find out later."

"It doesn't matter." Funan waved her hand. In the past, the Nine-Tails was a strategic force for Konoha. Now, it wasn't very important.

This time, despite the invasion of so many forces against Konoha, Funan still had not used his full power.

He had not used his own Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

He had not resorted to any of the tailed beasts.

Not even the brothers Tetsuhi and Komehi, who now possessed the Mangekyo, had come into action.

He hadn't mobilized Uchiha Setsuna either.

So, the Nine-Tails, which was a force over which he had no control, was irrelevant to Funan.

Funan was now only worried about how many more hidden cards that damn Hagoromo had.

"What happened at the border?"

Mei spoke first: "Kirigakure and Kumogakure had a brutal confrontation. Both sides suffered heavy losses. Hokage-sama, I hope you can provide us with some compensation. This time, Kirigakure has sacrificed a lot."

"No problem!" Funan was very straightforward.

Yako looked at Mei with some distrust.

Kirigakure's strength was naturally inferior to Kumogakure's. But Kirigakure's attack on Kumogakure had been an ambush. Furthermore, Konoha had provided a batch of explosive tags as reinforcement. Therefore, although Kirigakure had only mobilized four thousand shinobi, it managed to inflict significant losses on the eight thousand shinobi gathered by Kumogakure.

And now she was still asking for compensation! How shameless!

During the days when Funan had disappeared in Kirigakure, hadn't he compensated her enough?

Funan had infiltrated Kirigakure alone. After capturing Mei, the two spent three days together. During that time, Funan had repeatedly used his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan to deploy his dojutsu. Only on the first day did Mei stop resisting him. To avoid any mishaps, Funan stayed two more days. Thus, he managed to completely change her mind.

"As for Iwagakure, their army has not moved. They are currently in a tense situation with our eight thousand shinobi," Yako reported. "Kitsuchi intended to attack, but upon discovering the size of our army, he chose to remain still. He is probably waiting for news from Konoha."

"Unfortunately, what they will receive will not be good news," Funan commented with a smile. Then he turned to Pakura and said, "Pakura, I have an important task for you."

"Please speak." Pakura replied, bowing her head slightly in respect.

In a grave tone, Funan explained, "Rasa has died. Sunagakure needs a new Kazekage."

Pakura frowned and said: "You mean me?"

"No." Funan smiled and said: "You are my bodyguard, how can I bear to let you become a Kage."

Pakura pondered for a moment and then said, "Gaara? Isn't he a little young?"

Could such an inexperienced young man become Kazekage? Would Sunagakure accept him? However, other than him, there were no better options.

"That's why I need you," Funan replied, staring at her. "Pakura, I want you to go to Sunagakure and assist Gaara for a few months."

Pakura objected: "Chiyo is not dead."

"Whether she's alive or dead, it doesn't matter," Funan said disdainfully. "She's an old woman with one foot in the grave. This time, because of her, Sunagakure lost dozens of jonin. Do you think she could influence anything again? Perhaps even Sunagakure won't forgive her."

"Okay. I'll take Gaara back for a while," Pakura agreed.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Kankuro and Temari being escorted out of the place.

"They..."

"Although they did not participate in the battle, it is not right to release them so soon. We will talk about it in a few days."

The war was over, but small conflicts still persisted in many places. Funan had no time to deal with these minor matters.

"Hokage-sama!" Jiraiya ran over in a hurry.

"What's wrong?" Funan asked, giving him a look.

Jiraiya touched the back of his head and said embarrassedly: "I've driven back the Three Giant Serpents and Manda. I've also eliminated most of the Oto-nin."

"Not bad, you've earned a merit," Funan said, nodding.

The Three Giant Serpents were no pushovers, and Manda possessed enough strength to take out even an average Kage-level shinobi.

That Jiraiya had managed to confront them and, in addition, finish off so many Oto-nin was a feat impossible to ignore.

Funan had no intention of detracting from his merit.

Tsunade also came back covered in blood.

She killed a lot of people today.

She looked at the trees around her and hesitated to speak.

Wood Release?

"You can ask the ANBU members later; they will explain it to you in detail," Funan said, waving his hand. Then he added calmly, "I'll be very busy these days... and so will you."

"Understood!" Tsunade's expression turned solemn. After such an intense battle, the village's medical system would undoubtedly be at the limits of its capabilities.

"Kakashi, Guy, you will lead your teams and ensure safety within Konoha. I don't want shinobi from other villages continuing to wreak havoc here."

"Understood!"

"Tsunade!"

"Don't worry about the medical system!"

"Jiraiya..."

"Yes!"

Funan gave a series of clear and precise orders.

[Swish!]

All those who received their orders disappeared instantly.

Funan turned his gaze towards Yako and ordered: "Inform the shinobi at the borders that they can begin to move."

His expression was fierce, and his eyes emanated killing intent.

"I can't just sit back and swallow my anger after we were attacked."

"Understood!" Yako replied in a deep voice. "In fact, the Tetsuhi and Komehi brothers were already eager to act."

War broke out again.

Konoha rose up in force, publicly accusing the other villages of attacking during the Chunin Exams and the Five Kage Summit, assassinating the Kazekage, and attempting to assassinate the Hokage.

Faced with these accusations, the other villages remained silent.

They couldn't defend themselves, as they had indeed sent many shinobi to infiltrate Konoha. Pretending that this was a friendly action would only get them ridiculed.

Kumogakure was particularly furious.

They had suffered enormous losses and, to top it off, their own Kage had been captured!

Just then, Kirigakure and Konoha joined forces to attack Kumogakure.

The situation in Kumogakure was desperate.
