Phanes would appear in a suitable form to talk to others, for Mae, Phanes took the form of a holy woman.
"Grim Reaper? Some kind of spirit with a scythe?"- Mae
"Yeah, not really, when we weren't found by the others. We used a magic to separate the spirit inside the mirror to explore. But we made a mistake while doing it, so the spirit had its own consciousness and escaped"- Phanes
