Colin sighed in relief when Asmodious disappeared, and looked at the small leather bag she gave him. He opened the bag, and all he could see was spiraling purple light inside.
"Put your hand in. There is nothing to be afraid of." Lily reassured him, and Colin placed his hand into the bag. As his hand passed through the spiraling purple light, he felt something and grabbed it, before pulling his hand out. Taking his hand out of the bag, their was a leather bound book in his hand.
"Runic Knowledge and Application, Volume 1." Colin read the title out loud and Lily quickly took the leather bag from him and turned it upside down. Twelve books fell onto the ground, all bound in leather.
"Runic Knowledge and Application, Volumes 1 to 8." Lily said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the books. The two of the books were grimoires for different races, with one of them being for true demons. And the others were something called Silvia Eros' Apothecary Diaries Volume 1-2.
"You seem excited about these. Haven't you read them already?" Alice asked as she thought Lily seemed overly excited about the books containing runic knowledge.
"No I haven't, I've only read up to volume 4. Knowledge of runes have been kept on a tight leash, with only a few trusted demons being thought how to use them properly. Of course, the information was leaked over time, but nothing too powerful was leaked. I was only allowed to read up to volume 4 because mom thought I wasn't responsible enough to use any of the runes in the more powerful volumes." She said and this made Colin raise an eyebrow.
"Why would she think that? Are the runes dangerous are something?" He asked
"Well, some runes if you don't inscribe them properly can explode or cause energy backlashes that can kill the user." Lily said nonchalantly
"Okay, I think it's best if I hang on to these for now." He said, taking up volumes 6-8 of the runic books and throwing them in his [Demonic Inventory].
"But why?" Lily groaned
"If your own mother doesn't think you're responsible enough, then I don't think you should be wielding these either. Besides, I don't want you to risk your life." He said with a look of concern in his eyes.
"Fine." She said and picked up the volume 5. The reason he left that one out is to appease her and not cause her to become too upset about him keeping the others. She might even be able to find something helpful in it.
"What are these?" Alice asked, taking up the the books labelled, Silvia Eros' Apothecary Diaries Volume 1-2.
"Oh, those are my sister's journals. It tells you how to make elixirs, but I've never really been too interested, though she forced me to learn." Lily said while reading her book.
"Elixirs, like the one you used to save my life?" Alice asked and Lily simply nodded her head. Intrigued, Alice started to read the first volume of the book. With his two girls engrossed in reading, Colin decided to scroll through the statuses of the demons belonging to his house. After the battle, there was a sharp level increase among the original members, with many of them having levels ranging between 12 and 17. His knights and Alice were at the highest. He also Alice's new title and unique trait, making him feel proud and a little worried. Worried because with this new title and unique trait, he would have to put her at the forefront of battle once more, and although he didn't doubt her skills, he couldn't help but worry for her safety.
"Where are you going?" He asked Lily after she got up, clutching the books in her hand.
"Over to the Bartus guild compound. I'm going to need their cooperation if I'm going to inscribe these runes in the city." She replied and before Colin could answer what kind of runes, she disappeared.
"I'm heading out as well, most of these elixirs involve plants and I think Melissa will be of great help." Alice said, taking up the apothecary diaries and left, but not before giving Colin a kiss.
