First day of class, still the first period.
An Yeran was already being punished by the teacher because she fell asleep in class.
Getting punished like this was something An Yeran had long been accustomed to.
In her original world, she had been punished with everything under the sun, from standing in punishment, running laps, carrying water buckets to cleaning toilets, but she never reformed.
She was naturally averse to going to school, but because it was compulsory education, she had no choice. She planned to finish middle school and go back to the Martial Arts Hall to help out, but unexpectedly, she got into high school!
This was something a slacker like her had never dared to dream of. That day, fireworks were set off all over the Martial Arts Hall, causing neighbors to curse her dad up and down the street.
The corridor of the First Middle School Affiliated Elementary was spotless, with water stains left behind by the cleaning lady who had just mopped.
An Yeran looked down at her toes, and gradually, sleepiness crept up on her again.
She had been punished to stand so often that she could even sleep standing up.
Occasionally, a member of the Student Committee passing by while helping the teacher carry books would give her a surprised glance.
When the class bell rang, An Yeran finally woke up.
As Teacher Chen walked out of the classroom, he gave her a harsh glare, "Sleeping on your first day as a transfer student, do your parents think they sent you here on vacation?!"
An Yeran yawned, "Nope." To be honest, she considered coming to this world as a vacation.
Teacher Chen huffed and said, "The next period is still my class. You will continue to stand here until the end of the next class before you can go back to the classroom, understand?!"
An Yeran lazily nodded, "Got it, have a good day, teacher~"
Teacher Chen stormed off, high heels clicking in anger, holding the homework she had just collected.
An Yeran continued standing. Her stamina was excellent, and since her soul entered this body, it had gradually transformed to resemble her original body. Therefore, no matter how long the teacher punished her, it didn't affect her.
Her classmates in the class were curiously looking at her when suddenly a girl's voice approached her, "Are you okay?"
The girl's voice was very cute, soft and childlike, which An Yeran immediately liked.
"I'm fine," An Yeran replied.
She disliked noisy kids, but had a fondness for well-behaved ones like this.
The girl took out a tissue and handed it to her, "Here, wipe your sweat."
It was summer, and though An Yeran wasn't tired, she was a bit warm and had sweated a little.
She took the tissue, "Thanks."
"No prob…" The girl's words suddenly caught off, and An Yeran found a shadow looming over her.
She looked up to see a child with soft, coffee-colored hair, fair skin, delicate features, and dark, bright eyes. His pink lips were slightly pursed, looking a bit unhappy.
An Yeran was stunned.
Cinderella?! What is she doing here?
The girl beside her hadn't expected Lu Xiu to show up, her face turned red instantly, "Lu-Lu Xiu."
Lu Xiu nodded lightly at her, then turned his gaze back to An Yeran.
"Sister," Lu Xiu said, "why are you standing here?"
An Yeran replied, "Exercising." How could she have told the kid she was being punished?
Lu Xiu didn't believe her and said, "But they just said that Teacher Chen punished you."
An Yeran: "..."
Fine, whatever. She was a child now too, why should she care about face?
"Yeah, I was punished. What is it, Cinder... ahem, Lu Xiu?" An Yeran almost blurted out Cinderella's name but stopped herself in time.
Lu Xiu, holding a piece of bread and blinking his eyelashes lightly, said with some concern, "This morning, you didn't seem to have eaten…"
An Yeran was stunned and saw pure concern in the child's eyes.
Cinderella, is he delivering breakfast to her?
The other girls standing nearby were stunned to see this usually quiet person giving bread to someone. They couldn't believe their eyes.
Lu Xiu was the top student in his grade and the most good-looking too. Many girls liked him, but he hardly spoke and never took the initiative to greet others, treating all girls trying to befriend him with cold indifference.
Who would have thought someone like him would give something to someone else?
Who is this new transfer student?
"Thanks!" An Yeran took the bread. She had been standing for a long time and was a bit hungry. She directly tore open the bag and took a bite. The sweet taste instantly pleased her taste buds. The bread was baked by the nanny at home and tasted delicious.
Seeing that the second sister wasn't interested in talking to him while eating her bread, a trace of disappointment flashed in Lu Xiu's eyes, "Alright, then... I'll head back to class."
An Yeran, with her mouth full of bread, mumbled indistinctly, "Mm-hmm, go ahead, study hard!"
Though it felt odd for a slacker to say so, she didn't care. Until exams came around, no one knew she was a slacker!
Lu Xiu walked slowly back to his classroom. Before entering, he turned to look at the girl enjoying her bread.
The girl had some bread crumbs at the corner of her mouth. Her shiny lips moved up and down as she seemed very happy.
Lu Xiu's gloomy mood lightened a bit.
Sis liked the gift.
When big sister first arrived, he also wanted to give her a gift, but her gaze made him feel uneasy, filled with malice like their new stepmother. He didn't want to interact with her.
Lu Xiu glanced at An Yeran standing outside the classroom and slightly smiled.
This sister was different.
He wanted to become family with her.
*
An Yeran finished the last bite of the bread and threw the wrapper into the trash can in the corridor.
During the ten-minute break, she chatted with some girls who surrounded her while eating the bread.
"Oh, you mean Lu Xiu? He's my little brother," An Yeran said.
The future Cinderella brother.
The girls were surprised. They'd never heard that Lu Xiu had a sister.
They knew that Lu Xiu's father had remarried and that the new wife had brought a daughter into the family, but that daughter was Jiang Anxue from class two.
"Are you Lu Xiu's cousin?" one girl asked.
An Yeran shook her head, "Nope, same parents."
That's strange!
The girls were even more puzzled, "Isn't Lu Xiu's sister Jiang Anxue?"
An Yeran said, "Jiang Anxue and I are twins."
"But you don't look alike."
That was true.
An Yeran replied, "She looks like mom, I look like dad. Any problem with that?"
The girls: "..." No problem, indeed.
So they were siblings.
With this confirmed information, the initially disappointed girls perked up and started to take good care of An Yeran. They even organized Teacher Chen's lecture notes for her during her punishment.
When the second period ended, An Yeran was finally free from the corridor and returned to the classroom.
Teacher Chen glared at her coldly, "Class three isn't where any tom, dick, or harry can come. The monthly exam will tell, don't be in class three today and class eight after the exam, embarrassing yourself."
An Yeran smiled, "Thanks, thanks! Much appreciated!"
That would be awesome.
She heard that class eight was an unsupervised class where kids could do whatever they wanted during lessons since the teacher didn't care!
For An Yeran, it was like paradise!
