"It's alright," he said indifferently, "you've been a big help. These past few days have kept you busy."
"Not at all," Director Williams replied cheerfully, "since that's the case, I'll take my team back now. Find time to join me for a drink at the restaurant sometime."
Trenton Smith smiled, "Of course."
After hanging up the phone, Trenton Smith stood by the window, squinting as he smoked for a while. Sophia came over and told him that Norris Moore had woken up and was asking where Trenton had gone.
Remembering that he had promised her before she slept that he would be there when she woke up, Trenton immediately stubbed out his cigarette and turned back to the hospital room.
As evening approached, the nurse brought Norris Moore's dinner—a sticky, gluey bowl of plain porridge.
