Norris Moore responded in a soft voice, then closed her eyes to gauge her bodily sensations. Her head still felt dizzy, and her sensory perception was unclear—she just felt pain.
Trenton Smith asked her in a low voice, "Are you still thirsty?"
Norris nodded, "A little." Her mouth was dry, and the water she had drunk earlier had been thrown up.
Trenton nodded, stood up, and poured her a cup of water. This time, following the doctor's advice, he fed her with a spoon, one sip at a time.
After drinking more than a dozen spoonfuls, Norris felt her throat was less dry and raspy. She spoke softly, "That's enough."
Trenton put the bowl aside and sat by the bed, intertwining his fingers with hers.
She had slept for a while, and her spirits had improved considerably. Her vision wasn't as blurry as it was when she first woke up.
She tilted her face slightly to look at Trenton, then chuckled softly, "I'm fine."
