Chapter 14 - Nick Reunites With His Father

Inside Judge Julius's office, a conversation took place between John, who requested a letter from the Judge to serve Allison, enabling her to relinquish custody of the child to his father. Once the Judge signed the letter, John made a call to Mr. Miller. Upon connection, the elder gentleman instructed John, a lawyer, to wait for the bodyguards so they could proceed together. He emphasized the importance of not mentioning Chuck's name; John was simply to present the letter and collect the boy, advising that any inquiries be directed to the Judge.

Upon the bodyguards' arrival at John's office, they wasted no time and swiftly departed to the designated location. John had already contacted Allison, refraining from disclosing the purpose of his visit, but he was confident she would be expecting them. It did not take long for them to arrive at Allison's residence, where she awaited them alongside her mother and Louis. Unknown to them, the events that were about to unfold were far from what they had anticipated.

"We are looking for Allison," John stated upon their arrival. "And who are you?" inquired Allison's mother. John responded, "We are from Judge Julius's office, here with orders to take Nick Wallen with us." He then presented the signed letter and, with a smooth yet authoritative tone, requested that the boy be brought to them. Tensions arose as Yvonne expressed her reluctance to hand over the child. However, after some discussion between Allison and her mother, they ultimately had no choice but to comply, even though they were unaware of who had issued the request.

Meanwhile, Louis made a call to his lawyer friend prior to the handover. Upon hearing Judge Julius's name mentioned, Chris advised Louis that it would be wise to adhere to the requests of the individuals before them. The call was disconnected, and Louis conveyed this information to Allison and her mother, who had hoped he would resolve the situation for them. Unable to assist, they reluctantly acquiesced, leading John and the bodyguards to depart with the child.

Once they were in the car, John contacted Mr. Wallen Miller to relay the positive news. "That's good news," Mr. Miller responded, instructing them to take the boy home to the elderly gentleman.

During the ride, Nick inquired repeatedly about their destination. John reassured him that they were on the way to see his father, informing him that he would soon be living with him. Nick had a deep affection for his father, having spent a considerable amount of time with him while his mother was either working or out with friends. The prospect of reuniting with his father after a few days apart filled Nick with happiness.

"Can I touch the stars?" he mused while gazing up at the roof of the Rolls Royce, much like his father did before him, believing those were indeed real stars. John lifted him up, and he felt an immense joy as his fingers brushed against the roof of the luxury vehicle. Upon arriving home, Nick hesitated to exit the car, captivated by the stars above. There were times when Chuck would take him outside at night to admire the stars, and now, the thrill of actually touching them filled him with delight. However, they needed to return inside to meet the elder Mr. Miller.

Inside the villa, Mr. Miller had requested Nanny Margaret to prepare a room for Nick, whom he had even outfitted with a selection of toys. When they arrived, the room was ready, and Mr. Miller was elated to see his great-grandson, who bore a striking resemblance to his father. After being provided with a meal, Nick was escorted to his room by Nanny Margaret to play with his toys. The boy's happiness was palpable, even as he repeatedly inquired about his father; the multitude of toys and the spaciousness of the room, akin to a football field in his eyes, was a source of unbridled excitement.

Meanwhile, Mr. Miller and John remained in the living room, discussing the events from Allison's home. "John, I am profoundly grateful for everything you have done for me and my grandson. I will forever be indebted to you," Mr. Miller expressed sincerely.

"It's nothing, sir. I was merely fulfilling my role. Furthermore, your generosity towards me has not gone unnoticed; I would do anything for you," John replied with humility.

"I appreciate it, John. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Should you ever require my assistance, do not hesitate to ask, and I will be there to help," Mr. Miller assured him.

"John, the day my grandson was expelled from that family, there was a plot for his kidnapping, and orders were given for my grandson's elimination. May I ask for a favor? I need to ascertain who was behind it and why. My bodyguards managed to gather the name of the individual orchestrating it from one of the kidnappers. The name they provided before being dealt with was Louis. Could you possibly know who that is?"

"Louis? If I heard correctly, there is a young man whom I overheard Allison refer to as Louis. This may indeed be the same individual. However, let us refrain from drawing hasty conclusions. Leave the investigation to me; I am confident I will have answers by the end of the week or early next week."

"Thank you, John. I will eagerly await your findings. What do you believe we should do if he turns out to be the same young man you just encountered?" Mr. Miller inquired.

"If we can gather sufficient evidence, I can ensure he faces justice. However, without concrete proof, I will defer to your judgment on how to proceed, Mr. Miller," John responded.

"Understood, let's address the situation as it unfolds," Mr. Miller replied thoughtfully.

"Sir, time is not on my side. I must return to the office to manage several matters before heading home. I have pending business with Judge Julius and had promised him I would be back to the office once your issues were resolved," John stated as he prepared to leave.

Just as he was about to exit, Mr. Miller called out to him, "Please, give me a few moments." With that, Mr. Miller ascended the stairs. A short while later, he returned, holding an envelope that he handed to John. Although hesitant at first, John accepted the envelope and departed.
