Rocky, who had been about to chunk down another mouthful of beer paused and then turned his slightly glazed eyes to Nicholas. Rocky said nothing but Nicholas understood the look.
Rocky was hurting inside, and those seemingly harmless words of advice seemed to have given him some hope and something to cling to.
Sighing, and with a very serious look, Nicholas repeated, "Trust me on this, Rocky. We have seen your devotion to sister Ava…"
'Devotion is an understatement though. Rocky would die for her in a heartbeat if the situation ever presented itself!' Matt thought, knowing perfectly well that his thoughts should remain as they were. That wasn't the time for him to inject that into the conversation.
"…It will push through with time. You cannot start being all downtrodden about that now. Show her that you are the reliable person that we know you are." Nicholas continued and then suddenly, "But sister Ava is something, yh? Even with the presence of all this money, she never budged?"
