Chapter 412 - Eastern Front: Advancement

(Third Person POV)

In the Eastern Front, the defenses that Jason had set up on the border were destroyed. Many of the checkpoints, outposts, and defensive artillery were completely obliterated.

The Magic Council army that had marched towards the East to engage the Eastern forces was pushed back as the massive army had managed to push through on both foot and on air, a fleet of Airships slowly making their way past the stationed Magic Council forces.

Several thousand Magic Council mages were camped out on top of a hill as they watched countless airships fly past them, showing no signs of aggression.

One of those mages was Doranbolt, who had bandages on his head, proof of his fierce battle to defend the defenses.

"Tch!" He said with a scowl, "They managed to push through...."

Lahar walked up to him, "We managed to hold out for a long time, though." He said, "The defenses proved to be formidable enough to stall such a massive army."

Doranbolt turned around, "Tell me about it..." He said as he looked off into the horizon, "And the fact they don't view us as a threat at the moment...I can't help but feel frustrated...."

"Worry not..." Lahar said as he followed his gaze, "We have the Wizard Saints with us..."

They both watched as a massive army slowly marched in the distance, like a river of black water flowing through the chokepoint of hills that were set on fire. They were sure that they were going to engage them in battle, but Doranbolt was more worried about the fleet of airships that made it past them.

"I don't know what their plan is..." Doranbolt said with a scowl, "But I hope we buy some time here..."

Lahar looked at him, "It is understandable if you doubt yourself, Doranbolt." He said, "This is an enemy that has a reputation of absolute domination and conquest, but look on the bright side; they spent days trying to breach our defenses, defenses set up by a man we have on our side. Don't you understand?"

Doranbolt looked at him, "Understand what?" He said, "They managed to breach through and are advancing regardless of how long we kept them at bay."

Lahar patted his shoulder, "My dear friend, you have no faith." He said with a smile, "This means we can defeat them. Word has reached us that 3 of the Spriggan 12 have been defeated and a massive chunk of their forces have been eradicated. There is a chance we can win this."

Doranbolt widened his eyes, "Are you serious?" He said, "How did that happen?!"

"Jason." Lahar said, "He's the one responsible."

Doranbolt frowned, "Is that so?" He said, "That's...that's something..."

Lahar nodded, "Yea." He said, "I am glad he's on our side..."

Off into the distance, on top of a cliff that oversaw the massive army that marched through, three mages stood there, looking down on the Alvarez army. These were the top 3 Wizard Saints; God Serena, Hyberion, and Wolfheim. They had decided to intercept the army in order to give the Magic Council forces a chance to breathe as they had been deadlocked in a defensive battle for about 2 days straight.

Suddenly, next to them, a lone mage appeared. It was an elderly man with long white hair and beard, holding a staff as he looked at them with a solemn expression.

This was August, The Magic King.

Hyberion looked at him with a shocked expression, "This magic power...." He said with sweat running down his forehead, "He's...."

Wolfheim scowled, "He'll be troublesome..." He said in agreement

God Serena, however, couldn't help but smirk.

"Oi oi oi..." He said, "It's just you? Only one Shield of Spriggan is overseeing this march? Oh come on!! Wait, unless there's one in the fleet of ships that made it past...."

August cleared his throat, "Greetings, Wizard Saints." He said, "I am August, Shield of His Majesty, The Emperor. I am here to politely ask you and your forces to move aside and allow us to march through. That way, you could be spared."

Wolfheim glared at him, "You want us to surrender?" He asked, "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Hyberion shook his head, "It is impossible to allow you to do such a thing." He said, "We are insulted by that suggestion."

August sighed, "I didn't want it to come to this. Senseless bloodshed, that is." He said, "But if you insist...."

"Hey." God Serena said, "There was another Shield in that fleet, wasn't there?"

Wolfheim looked at him, "What the hell are you talking about, God Serena!" He growled, "Focus on the matter at hand!"

God Serena smiled at August, ignoring Wolfheim, "There was..." He said

August nodded, "There was." He said, "She's currently.....'sleeping'.....but when she wakes up, she'll lay ruin to your country. Be grateful it was I who you engaged, not her."

God Serena chuckled, "Oh, it doesn't matter!" He said as he took a step forward, "Tell me, Old man. Do you expect to successfully make it past us with just you? You think quite highly of yourself!! I mean, that's a pretty hefty army to command!"

August looked off to the side, seeing his massive army march through, "Well, of course I can command them." He said, "And as for making it past you lot.....you make one simple yet crucial mistake."

Both Hyberion and Wolfheim shifted nervously, noticing a rise in his magic power. They weren't taking any chances and were full aware of the danger that was in front of them. It wasn't just the massive army that they had to worry about, it was this man in front of them.

"And what is that?" God Serena asked with a smirk

August then began to release a massive aura that shook the entire ground, giving God Serena a serious look.

"Underestimating me. I am August, The King of Magic." He said, "General of The Spriggan 12. There is no army, no mage, no power that can stand in my way."

"You shall fall to me."
